My cat has had 6 teeth removed this afternoon and since got home she's just sat staring into space. Her tongue is sticking out. It looks like she's been beat up.

She is really wobbly so removed the cat trees and she will sleep downstairs tonight as in not on our bed. I'm sleeping down here too.

I'm really upset and stressed as she seems really sick. Family are saying so would anyone after having 6 teeth out. I've not had pet before so this is all new to me.

Can anyone share their own experiences or advise what I can do, should be looking out for?

My vets open at 9 am in the morning.

Oh thanks I was looking at those. I've bought pate today but had to like really mush it up. I've gave her lick a licks. Feel bad because I know she wants the biscuits.

I'm currently asleep on the living floor whilst she is on the couch.

You sound like an amazing owner. Lucky cat. 🥰

Aw thank you. I wish she thought that she's all for daddy ha! Went to bed at 5 am in the end. She was zonked out.

I hope your kitty is less wobbly now.

Something worth doing is flushing out the sockets using a medicine syringe after she has eaten to stop debris from building up in there.

Lik-e-lix are also fantastic if she is struggling to eat right now.

Yes I've got those she's loving them. Thank you. Feel better knowing she's eating something.

It's probably just a reaction to the anaesthetic. One of mine had five teeth removed, he was fine.

Ouch x

I adopted a cat with very few teeth (so no help on the surgery recovery). I found she couldn’t handle very solid food at all, but really enjoyed cat soup and also the pate cat food with a bit of water and mashed up.

I still dry heave at the thought of that cat slurry, but she loved it.

Oh thanks never thought to add water x

My 10y.o boy had 9 teeth out last week. They gave us pain killers, no antibiotics though. Said he should eat within 12-24hrs, and by 24hrs, still hadn't and looked very sorry for himself, his breath smelled like death too.

Took him to emergency care thinking we'd get antibiotics, but they admitted him for a couple of days on iv meds and fluids. He was really poorly 😢.

Luckily he came home and started eating again. Just finished his antibiotics and got another week before he can go on biscuits again. Luckily hospital stay only cost £100 extra as they pay rest of cost of surgery complications.

Dental was £339 for however many teeth.
£53 for bloods pre anastethic.
He's much better now thankfully. His teeth were horrendous, poor guy. I had brought it to their attention a couple of times, but they never mentioned anything. Only had him 3 months.
Hope yours is OK.

Omg that's awful sorry to hear that! Glad he's much better!

Yes she is on the mend. She's wanting biscuits though but can't give her them x

Poor lamb, having to go through that in this heat. Sounds like she's coping well though.

Just a word or warning, mine had three out earlier this year. Keep an eye on their eating, once the anaesthetic fully wore off my boy stopped eating. I resorted to chilled adult cat milk which he would stomach, and booked him back ar the vets. Turns out he had an infection and needed to be on a drip overnight.

Fine now, but it was really stressful and he dribbles permanently when snoozing on one side.

You can also try soaking biscuits to soften them if she's desperate, in a bit of water, adult cat milk, or even unsalted spring water from a can of tuna.

I tried that before her dental work an she wouldn't have it. I've gave her turkey and that like. I wish she would get back to normal. Just worrying x
