Travel to Europe / Uk for holiday at the moment

Hi
I live outside the UK and Europe and have a flight booked to come to visit the UK and Europe for 4 weeks in August. Fully vaxed, just myself and my teen daughter, DH cant come and is happy for a mother daughter adventure. Am I being unreasonable to get too worried and cancel at the last minute due to covid increasing? What is it like at the moment in the UK? Apart from a long haul flight we would travel around ourselves in a camper van and love doing outdoor things. The local papers are all doom and gloom - so hard to know what things are really like.

My daughter is all set to go, she is just about to turn 20 and sees this as a great mother daughter trip. I am a bit of a worry wart though, friends tell me to mask up etc and be sensible and it will be fine.

So is Covid and cold / flu rampant? AIBU to think of cancelling our trip and losing money ??

Neither of us have had covid so far, we could be very lucky or have a great immune system, I suspect we have just been lucky.

Interested to hear thoughts of those of you actually living in the UK or Europe. Thank you

There's a fair bit of covid around but life here is totally normal, no restrictions on anything and no testing required.

Unless you have any underlying health conditions then you don’t need to worry about it

Things are pretty much back to normal

We live in England, travelled to Italy 2 weeks ago for a 5 day holiday. We didn’t get Covid or feel particularly concerned about it. Everyone is just getting on with their lives. I hope you have a fabulous time!

You could wear a mask in enclosed places like shops, quite a few people do still so you wouldn't stand out if you did.

Apart from that, I don't give it a thought. But if someone says they or their family has covid, we give them a wide berth until they're OK again, but that's it really. (And I'd do the same for Noro or any D&V or flu bug to be fair.) We're planning on going to Greece soon so don't want to get covid before that.

I wouldn't cancel. And don't go by the newspapers, they rely on drama and spreading despair and despondency to sell papers!

Covid rates are quite high. But, that’s the way it is for evermore.
you could come, catch covid, fell unwell and then go home.
but it’s more likely that you come don’t catch covid and have a nice holiday.

We live in England and while I know a few people who have Covid or have recently had it it’s not really impacting my life at the moment.
We have travelled in Europe over the last few years and are flying to an EU country next week.
I don’t see why you would cancel your plans

I've holidayed and had short breaks in the UK numerous times this year and everything has been as normal.
I do see maybe a handful of elderly people in the supermarket wearing masks, and have had to wear one for medical appointments, but that's it.
Fear and bad weather sells newspapers.

thank you - it is so hard to know what to do. I really appreciate all your posts as newspapers really dont give a good look at how things really are. We wont do anything silly and will avoid large crowds etc.
