Here as its the only one with voting. I'm being encouraged to apply for a promotion in another team in my department, and don't know what to do. Applying, getting the role and then changing my mind is not an option. My head says yes, my heart says no, but I also think it's fear.
Pros - £10k rise, step up, specialising in interesting area where I can have an impact, retire in 10 years and this would have a big impact on my pension (which is woeful at the mo so every bit helps).
My job might get a bit boring in another couple of years, not enough challenge.
Cons - new manager/team who seem nice, but I've been miserable in past jobs because of colleagues/managers and my current ones are fantastic.
More responsibility/stress
What if I can't do it as its a jump up to strategic level
Much more 'corporate', which makes me die a little inside, buzzwords, jargon, 'strategic transformational initiatives' type language. Lots of committees and working groups, I'm more hands-on getting stuff done. Scary.
More travel.
YABU - apply you fool and work bloody hard but get the rewards
YANBU don't apply, enjoy coasting a bit even if you might ultimately get a bit bored, and there's no risk where you are
