I love to hear about people having problems with tesco, as I can't get them to deliver to me

No, YANBU, I +would have said "no, you won't assume i've cancelled, you'll come* back at alloted time" and rang the store to have hissy fit

SheikYerbouti · 17/01/2008 14:54

That's a bit naughty of them. It's a good job you were even in

If my teco delivery is early, they always ring (we alwayd book it for late at night, so we are normally gl;ad of it ebing early tbh) but its' common courtesy to at least ring before they come knocking.

Sidge · 17/01/2008 14:54

YANBU - there was no need for them to be so rude.

Mine has come early a few times, but they always ask if it's convenient or if I want them to come back later.

milge · 17/01/2008 14:56

YANBU at all - mine ring if they are early.

MightySquonk · 17/01/2008 14:56

YANBU at all.

Our tesco delivery a couple of weeks ago came early, but the driver rang me first and asked if it was okay to bring it early as he was passing. This was fine by me so I said it was okay.

The next time, they were on time and the driver was whinging about the fact that he had driven past the end of my road half an hour before my allotted time but he wasn't allowed to deliver then as it was against their rules. I said that he should have rang me like the last guy and he said that they are ABSOLUTELY not allowed to do this.

He said that they absolutely have to stick to the times stated otherwise they get in big trouble, but the people that organise their routes don't really have a clue about where things are and a realistic time of getting from here to there.

If I were you I would be very tempted to complain about him. It sounds like he was fed up and pissed off and trying it on and you were the victim. He is not allowed to do this.

grr

My2Weegirls · 17/01/2008 14:56

YANBU have you emailed their customer support to complain? - if they are going to be early here they phone to check it's ok

MightySquonk · 17/01/2008 14:56

(sorry very long post when all I really wanted to say was YANBU)

Not unreasonable at all. It sounds like he wanted to knock off early, so just wanted his deliveries finished.

RubberDuck · 17/01/2008 15:16

Sainsburys phone to see if it's convenient to drop off early. I have on occasion said "no, sorry" and they've been fine about it. I think you should complain and at least insist on a money off voucher for the next shop.

Twiggypiggy · 17/01/2008 15:18

Our drivers usually ring to check.

kekouan · 17/01/2008 16:05

Complain - seriously. Make them refund your delivery charge or something, or give you free delivery for future orders. They do seem to take complaints pretty seriously in my experience, and hopefully it'll stop it happening again?

YANBU

This happened to me recently too. Delivery arrived about an hour early and as it was a no nursery morning we were all still in pj's. Not really a problem, but I hate being caught in my pj's even by good friends/relatives never mind strangers! I did have a bit of a moan (but in a nice way)at the driver but he just said something vague about it depending if you're first on the list!? Find it hard to be assertive in my pj's though so I didnt argue!! It is annoying though, if you pay for a particular slot you should get your shopping then, if not you should get your delivery charge refunded. I'm generally too lazy to complain though...

nutcracker · 17/01/2008 16:14

Asda keep doing this to me, and only once did they actually ring first to check it was ok.

Last week my slot was booked for between 2pm-4pm, but it actually arrived at 10:45 and they guy delivering never said a word about it.

I was going to complain, but thought it sound a bit odd complaining about it arriving early.

smurfgirl · 17/01/2008 16:19

Oh I had a massive fight with Sainsburys about this.

They were supposed to deliver at 1pm, they wokrang twice to ask if they could deliver early neither time I answered the phone as I was busy, then they turned up early and tried to deliver and when I sent them away and rang up to complain the manager came and stood in my doorway to indimidate me.

TwoToTango · 17/01/2008 16:33

Tesco have delivered early to me twice. Both times half an hour and both time the drivers checked I was OK with them being early before they started unloading and offered to come back within the delivery slot if it wasn't convenient.

mistressmiggins · 17/01/2008 19:59

I have had Tescos deliver early to me most times.
They always knock & ask if its ok first.
Last time the bloke said he was passing & thought hed see if I was in. Apparantely if I hadnt been, he would just have come back within my time slot

I can see it is a pain if you are doing bed time though
