Worrying over bird poo

emetophobe12 · 13/07/2022 20:01

DS (1yo) put his hand on what looked like an old dried patch of bird poo on a bench.
Went to the park afterwards and went home.
Gave him a snack and completely forgot about the bird poo thing until he had almost finished his snack (hands in mouth).
Now I'm worried that he's going to have caught some kind of illness or disease from it

Unlikely. Most of the stuff we touch has human fecal matter on it anyway Grin

Don’t panic. Kids are gross. He’ll definitely do worse and live to tell the tale.

ManateeFair · 13/07/2022 20:34

He’ll be fine.

OvaryActions · 13/07/2022 21:31

I'm not sure why a poster is giving you a "Biscuit" emoji Confused
It's only natural to worry about things when you have a baby, you're obviously a loving mum ..but I agree with the other posters "kids are gross" 😅 he will be fine.

Hellocatshome · 13/07/2022 21:36

He will be fine. Obviously its not great but toddlers touch loads of disgusting stuff and probably more than half the time you won't even know about it.

My DD picked up a big lump of dried bird poo and put it straight in her mouth when she was little. Had to scrape it off her tongue for her! Poor little mite. Phoned doctors in a flap and they said she’d be fine. Which she was. Having watched too much ‘House’ I was convinced she’d end up with some awful infection but humans are pretty resilient.

He'll be fine but I would try & get in the habit of washing his hands & yours when you come in the house!

It's always the first thing I do when I come in, doesn't matter where I've been!

I read a story on here once of a toddler who picked up a dead rat at the bottom of the garden and came up the path hugging it. Can you imagine the horror?

I was exactly the same as you OP, but I'm sure your little one will be fine.

Try keeping chickens this week:
Maggie drank my coffee
Ethel drank Mrs p squash
Molly stood on my foot and poohed on my leg

don't sweat it kids need to build resistance to germs
