AIBU to have a moan about Live Nation In Demand Tickets

This is probably really boring but I’m quite upset about it. First off we are in NZ. My DS (17) and his 3 friends bought in demand GA tickets to Kendrick Lamar for $400 - ridiculous price and twice the price the tickets were originally on offer for (and sold out really fast). But they really wanted to go, once in a lifetime etc. My DS paid for all the tickets with his own money and the boys are paying him back. A few weeks later a second concert for the next day is added with thousands more tickets for $200. The boys are gutted obviously. AIBU to complain to Live Nation? I feel they were misled by the second date not being disclosed at the time of purchase. What appeared to be ‘in demand’ is not actually in demand anymore. The other issue we have is that one boy has not paid anything yet. There’s nothing to stop him buying a $200 ticket to the next night except for goodwill. My son would then never be able to recoup his $400 as the tickets aren’t worth that anymore. I assume Live Nation will not care but I want to complain bitterly anyway. AIBU - anyone had something like this happen before?

Did they buy the tickets from Live Nation or privately from a third party?

LoudingVoice · 13/07/2022 08:37

Were the ticket they bought from an individual who was reselling their tickets?

Are the tickets they have better - eg closer to the stage etc?

Pettyargument · 13/07/2022 08:52

The tickets were bought via Ticketmaster on behalf of Live Nation. They obviously hold back a bunch of tickets to sell at a premium to the people who have missed out. They are just GA standing tickets, nothing special about them.

Sorry to bump but just to reiterate- the tickets are 100% from Live Nation who have sold a standing ticket at a premium price because the concert was selling out quickly. However, unbeknownst to anyone buying these there was a second date which hadn’t been disclosed, maybe they hadn’t confirmed it yet but regardless it is a shitty practice.

This tends to happen all the time in big cities where concerts etc sell out really fast, its often why the original concert dates are on alternate days, so they can slot in an extra at really in demand venues.
I've had it where i've bought seats in the gods, to then have a new date released, they weren't higher priced but we are talking about 2004 here, so it's not a "new" thing.
