Disclaimer
I have epilepsy and multiple Sclerosis. I work fulltime. I've worked for the same LA for many years.

I'm fucked. This heat is killing me. I can hardly move. MS is doing this to me.

Can you take some annual leave at short notice? I work for an LA and we would allow this as a reasonable adjustment for someone with your conditions.

Ponoka7 · 13/07/2022 00:17

I also thought of you taking some type of leave. Hope things get better quickly for you.

BashfulClam · 13/07/2022 00:18

Try and take some leave, keep really hydrated. My father had and and heat was bad for him.

ManateeFair · 13/07/2022 00:25

I would have thought that if you’re having a flare-up of your MS, you would be entitled to sick leave - if you’re more or less incapacitated, you’re unwell, whether the heat is the cause or not. It’s not like you’re just a bit tired! You have a serious medical condition.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 13/07/2022 00:27

Do they know you have MS? If they do then you should be fine to be off sick without it affecting your record because heat is a known issue with MS.

Should I have to take leave due to having MS?

Call in sick. You are sick. Do they know you have MS, and what the implications are (eg flare ups)?

HairyScaryMonster · 13/07/2022 08:05

Yep take sick leave. And since ms is covered under the disability act, they can't penalise you.
