To not find this TikTok trend funny??

The one where parents tell their children they’re about to fight someone and they need them to step in and fight the child that’s with the person they’re fighting.

I know afterwards they probably say it’s a joke but I just don’t think this is amusing in any way!

Some of them get genuinely upset and some start cracking their knuckles and swearing ready to fight - I don’t know what’s worse.

Maybe I am just miserable but I hate how people will do anything just for ‘likes’ off complete strangers, including upsetting or humiliating their own kids.

YABU - this is funny and I need to lighten up.
YANBU - this is not funny and I’m not completely miserable.

No don't like this and don't like encourage any form of violence.

cariadlet · 12/07/2022 21:16

Haven't seen it but it sounds awful.

Georgeskitchen · 12/07/2022 21:17

Grown adult parents such start behaving as such and get off tiktok
Surely this is child abuse

winewolfhowls · 12/07/2022 21:17

All these trends seem to encourage antisocial and mean behaviour, I don't get what's funny at all

Mellowyellow222 · 12/07/2022 21:18

Hate it. Have seen it a couple of times and the kids just look bewildered.

it’s like that dawn French sketch when she tells little jimmy daddy is moving into a flat to live with his new girlfriend Christine who is a bitch. Then she says only joking.

Pregante · 12/07/2022 21:19

No it's awful and very reflective of the posters making these videos ...

Motherchicken · 12/07/2022 21:19

Can’t stand it either. I don’t find it funny.

ManateeFair · 12/07/2022 21:21

Pretty much any TikTok or YouTube trend that involves pranking a child is horrible, really. Actually most of the ones that involve pranking an adult are too, really. It’s not really enough to explain afterwards - during the moment someone is being pranked like that, they are experiencing fear/upset because they think it’s real.

Ifigotherewillbedouble · 12/07/2022 21:24

I haven’t seen this version but saw one where an adult male was telling his mum to come and step in and fight the mum of the guy he was going to be arguing/fighting with - was very funny as the small stout woman in her 60s sat down and changed from her slippers into her trainers shouting, I’ll sort this *** out etc. But yes totally agree that these trends involving hurting children in any way are abusive and should be banned

KyaClark · 12/07/2022 21:25

Not seen it. Sounds awful.

Rumplestrumpet · 12/07/2022 21:27

Bloody awful

comealongponds · 12/07/2022 21:27

YANBU

i don’t like pranks anyway, especially pranks on children.

i do judge the parents who do this particular one and assume that they’ve taught their child that fighting and violence is acceptable. Not nice people at all!

honeybooboo33 · 12/07/2022 21:28

I saw one of these earlier. I wouldn't say it's abusive but it's crass and chavvy. Like why would you want to encourage your children to fight? You're right, some people will do anything for likes.

ThisBloodyWeatherIsKillingMe · 12/07/2022 21:29

Bloody stupid. My GDs look at a lot of things on TikTok (they've got parental blocks on a lot of stuff). I keep telling them that TokTok is just stupid people doing stupid things.

liveforsummer · 12/07/2022 21:31

I've never seen this - my til tok feed is pretty wholesome for the most part bar the odd swear word. Does sound ridiculous though

underneaththeash · 12/07/2022 21:34

I had no idea that adults even watched stuff on tic toc (or posted on it).

CallOnMe · 12/07/2022 21:34

I’m glad I’m not the only one that doesn’t like it!

I’m not on TikTok so I don’t know how long this has been around but I saw it on Instagram and all of the comments were saying how hilarious it was!

I think it’s wrong as not only is it encouraging violence (which is bad enough) but I also think it’s bad as the ones that get upset are now all over the internet and anyone who knows them are going to show their children the video of them and they’ll possibly be bullied or teased because of it.

KangarooKenny · 12/07/2022 21:36

No, I don’t like it either.
But then I’m rapidly going off TT due to every other person flogging something.

Boxowine · 12/07/2022 21:42

I don't like any social media trends where parents trick their children about anything. It's manipulative and exploitative. Children's emotional reactions are not for amusement.

Daniel1e · 01/03/2023 11:22

This guys kid couldnt possibly know what a sidepiece is but what is he teaching him???? www.tiktok.com/@tshowme/video/7199964468728614149

Naunet · 01/03/2023 11:53

Ugh, sounds awful. How old are these “parents”? Is no one expected to grow up and be responsible anymore??

Goldenbear · 01/03/2023 11:58

Inane crap, my DS (nearly 16) thinks the same!

JackyinaTracky · 01/03/2023 13:21

I didn’t like the grinch ones where the little kids looked so terrified either. it just seemed so mean and I can’t understand parents getting their kicks out of seeing their children terrified for laughs.

PumpkinDart · 01/03/2023 13:24

Yet to hear of an actual "funny" Tik Tok trend. Can't wait for the social media bubble to eventually burst it's just dross.
