Ebayer says I’ve solder her a damaged item

Last week I sold a new hair topper via ebay.
I had purchased this topper for myself a few months ago but have since changed my hair colour so it no longer matches my own hair, hence the reason for selling.
I sold the topper boxed, as new because I have not worn or changed the topper in any way, I have not even tried it on.
When I sent it to her last Monday, I was confident it was in 100% perfect condition, as new.
She received the item and gave me a good review last week.
Today, I have received an email from her stating the topper has been cut and that it’s obviously not new and I have duped her.
I have replied saying that it was 100% as new and I have not even tried it on and certainly have not cut it.
I have no idea what has happened here but am really upset as I have sold over 800 items over the years and they all have given me good reviews, I have 100% rating. I am a conscientious seller, I would never knowingly dupe anyone.
I sold it for £125 and she’s obviously wanting a refund. However, I needed that money to pay for something important and no longer have the spare funds.
What do I do now? I’ve never had this situation before.
Has anyone else had this happen?

I have pictures of the top and underside of the topper, which was on eBay, I can not see any cuts on these photos.
I have asked her to send me photos.

Well obviously she will attack it with scissors now!! Get in touch with ebay. My dh gave up selling because of such buyers. He had good success with ebay live chat. You can upload your pics direct to them I believe..

eBay Will always side the the buyer, She can simply open a case as item not as described. She will be told to send it back for a refund. It is super frustrating I know but there's no point trying to fight it

Cameronnorrieisabitofalright · 12/07/2022 14:12

I disagree. My dh was scammed (attempted - they failed) and eBay refused the refund.

Stick with it op.

She gave you a good review though so stalk her Instagram see where she wore it and send it to ebay too? You can argue with ebay they will occasionally change there mind

Dotjones · 12/07/2022 14:12

Honestly, just write it off, refund her and thank yourself that you didn't waste your time trying to argue it out. Ebay always side with the buyer, it's up to you as the seller to prove what they received was as described, not what you sent. It's an almost impossible task to do this.

Cameronnorrieisabitofalright thanks, will contact them.
Dogscanteatonions that’s my concern, I know that it left me in 100% perfect condition. I just don’t have the money anymore, I had to use it to pay my dogs vet bill, urgh!

I will have to stick with my guns as I just don’t have the money to refund. The item wasn’t damaged in any way. I am so bloody angry.

Isaidnoalready never thought of that, I’ll check her out.

The buyer accepted the item and gave you a positive review. She was obviously happy with the condition of the item when it arrived yet the buyer is now claiming it was cut. I think you’re on the stronger footing: ask eBay to get involved.

I sell on Etsy and eBay and have this issue frequently - twice this week!

One said her parcel hadn't arrived - I looked on her FB and her child was wearing the outfit that hadn't arrived! 🙄

The second one said the outfit was incomplete so she wanted a refund. I KNOW it wasn't - I remember clearly packing it up (I make the outfits!) The set was for a birthday party, she said as it was incomplete her DC couldn't wear it so his birthday last week was^^ 'ruined'. I checked her FB - his birthday is next month! So, I told her to return her parcel and I'd refund her - I know she won't, because she wants it for next month 😂 she just wanted the outfit AND a refund - I've not heard back from her.

I know how frustrating it is OP. Most of my scam buyers are on Etsy who are useless with this kinda thing - I've found ebay to be much better so provide the pics as evidence and let them sort it. Her leaving you positive feedback will go in your favour.

She wanted it for a one off event that’s now over.

Fight your corner and ignore the people telling you to give in to this horrible bully. £125 is a lot of money!
