Aibu to risk the lawn by getting the paddling pool out at the weekend!

We got new lawn laid a couple of months ago. Obviously it cost money and we've been taking good care of it. But now Dh really doesn't want to put the kids paddling pool out! I disagree, I think that yes it's nice to keep it looking lovely, but one reason we wanted a lawn was so the kids could enjoy the garden! Plus would a paddling pool for 2 days really trash it that much?! For full disclosure we have a small garden, the paddling pool takes up most of it! So wise mumsnet, aibu to put the paddling pool out and risk the new lawn?

Was it turf or seeded?

Turf... Liking that this might be an educated response, @CottonSock ?

Our new lawn was fine after 2 days of using the paddling pool. Grass was a bit flat but sorted itself out over the next few days and I think the water from the pool really helped in the scorching heat. So you ANBU, your DH is.

Turf is ready to use much quicker. I'd probably use it as it will need a good watering. But stop them if it starts to look muddy.

Do it! Life’s too short

... the water really helped the grass in the scorching heat 😊

I agree with Buffy, the paddling pool will protect the lawn from getting sunburnt/scorched and you’ll be able to give the grass a good quenching soak afterwards when you empty the pool.
I’ve never seen a weather warning for extreme heat before and anything you can do to keep cool will no doubt be worth it this week.

I'd have thought turf would be ok for a couple of days. On Sunday evening get some hosepipe and siphon the water out all over the lawn .
