DD has a mate coming for tea tonight

never been before

in playground, I asked her Mum if she had any allergies

she snapped "I'd have TOLD you if she had"

me - "right." [cat bum mouth]

I narrowed my eyes at her back, the witch

and yes, she DID snap

How rude! Well what I would do is pour copious amounts of sweets, chocolate, fizzy drinks etc down her DD's neck about half an hour before she is due to go home and let the mother deal with a very hyperactive child before bed. If she says anything tomorrow just smile and say sweetly "Oh, sorry. I thought you would have TOLD me if she couldn't have sweets/ chocolate / fizzy drinks"

MamaVonG · 17/01/2008 11:13

WELL AM I??

colditz · 17/01/2008 11:15

Give the child a big bag of haribo before picking up time.

A big bag.

MamaVonG · 17/01/2008 11:16

SORRY

oops, I mean sorry

How rude! There you are making sure you don't kill the child and she responds like that!

I think you need to but some full fat Cola in, that should do the job. And lots of that (lovely ) popping candy etc.

MamaVonG · 17/01/2008 11:22

hehe

i did think she may have thought iw as being a bit "worthy", but my nephew had dreadful allergies - they didn't make him ill as such, just made him super hyperactive and i'm always very conscious of that.

fruitshoots, turkey twizzlers and lots of haribo methinks
(oh sorry you said you weren't trying to kill the child!!)
And YANBU how rude, hope her child is more polite!

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 17/01/2008 11:25

YANBU I always ask if a child has allergies if they are coming for tea.

flack · 17/01/2008 11:29

Hmmm... maybe the mum was just having a bad day? Don't take it personally.
I've never asked about allergies! Just said "I was thinking to feed them X, does that sound ok?", or "Is there anything she won't or shouldn't eat?"
Only once had visit from child with suspected allergy (citrus), that was at least 5 years ago, and have had dozens since.

Hecate · 17/01/2008 18:35

I agree.....Candyfloss. Proper cola. Cheese strings.

Send the child home high as a kite!

BibiThree · 17/01/2008 18:46

Give her strong coffee sweetened with huge spoons of sugar to wash down the cola bottles and strawberry laces.

NappiesGalore · 17/01/2008 18:48

YABU

you shouldve taken her aside and asked if anything was bothering her lately.

Eliza2 · 17/01/2008 18:48

Naughty, naughty girls.

Hecate · 17/01/2008 18:58

I suppose a cigar is a step too far..........

VictorianSqualor · 17/01/2008 19:00

I assume the child is having a nap as we speak? Yes? Before you give her all those wonderful sweeties.

Unfitmother · 17/01/2008 19:02

The worst thing my dd ever had was full sugar Irn Bru whilst on a trip to Scotland, the effect was terrifying! Apparently it's famous for it

Desiderata · 17/01/2008 19:02

When the kid comes round for tea, just say casually, 'Christ, your mother's a bitch, isn't she.'

He he he he he.

Eliza2 · 17/01/2008 20:28

Oh you're all just so wicked.

cheshirekitty · 17/01/2008 20:40

yanbu, you are just being a kind, thoughtful, lovely human and parent.

MamaVonG · 17/01/2008 20:45

desi, it did cross my mind
but she was LOVELY to me when i took her dd home

Eliza2 · 17/01/2008 21:02

Probably she was just caught on an off moment in the playground (something about those places can bring out the demon in even the loveliest women).

Nyx · 19/01/2008 22:22

I would have been raging! If she has been lovely to you in the past then, I don't know, perhaps she was having a bad day or something. But still!

PMSL @ Desiderata btw
