Storing condiments In fridge!

Hairybaker · 09/07/2022 17:00

Argh there must be something that exists that you can put you ketchup/mayo/burger sauce etc in that will store it nicely but horizontally?! My shelves are not tall enough to have tgem
standing up, and when you lie them down they roll over the place. Something like a make up storage holder bit for fridge.

I’ve googled to no avail. Anyone seen something?! AIBU to think it should be invented if not?!

There are loads of fridge baskets on Amazon

FionnulaTheCooler · 09/07/2022 17:04

Buy one of those big tubs of ice cream and then wash it out when its finished and use it as a designated sauce holder box?

icelollycraving · 09/07/2022 17:05

I bought fridge baskets from Lidl. There were in the middle aisle of doom where you can lose your mind and your budget.

Harridance · 09/07/2022 17:06

Do they need to be stored in the fridge?

Circumferences · 09/07/2022 17:07

What about the shelves on the fridge door?

Davros · 09/07/2022 17:08

You don't need to store preserved goods in the fridge, E.g. ketchup but anything with dairy/egg, E.g. mayonnaise should be refrigerated

Circumferences · 09/07/2022 17:08

Haha I actually thought this thread would be
"DH keeps sauces in the fridge, I disagree and think they should be kept in the cupboard who is right?" I'd say keep them in the cupboard 🤷🏻‍♀️

Harridance · 09/07/2022 17:10

The supermarket doesn't put them in the fridge although appreciate they are sealed then

isthismylifenow · 09/07/2022 17:15

I keep mine in the door rack.

And yes, they need to be in the fridge once opened. Have a look at the label.

NigellaAwesome · 09/07/2022 17:16

I keep mine upright in the door.

UndertheCedartree · 09/07/2022 17:18

I have mine in a fridge basket. There are loads available.

ChamomileLawn · 09/07/2022 17:19

I have an entire fridge dedicated to condiments, pickles and cheese.

Harridance · 09/07/2022 17:20

Isthismylifenow - ooh, have never read the label, will do, although haven't been poisoned yet

Homegettinginvaded · 09/07/2022 17:36

I only store mayonnaise in the fridge!!

floweringpoppies · 09/07/2022 17:38

I think once opened they are meant to be stored in the fridge

Davros · 09/07/2022 22:33

The labels saying "keep refrigerated" in many cases is just arse covering, much like sell by dates

Moonshine5 · 09/07/2022 22:40

I'm impressed!

JaceLancs · 09/07/2022 23:02

Tkmaxx have a great range of fridge storage boxes in every size you can imagine
I keep tall ones in fridge door
smaller jars of chutney, pickles, burger relish etc are in a storage tray - great for BBQs just lift tray out

Dic · 09/07/2022 23:07

Ewww I hate cold condiments. Room temperature for us.

Cold ketchup, ew! To anyone storing ketchup in the fridge, I know the label says to, but there are millions of us that have survived storing it in the kitchen cupboard with no ill effects.

Davros · 10/07/2022 17:57

Chutneys, pickles don't need refrigerating

WellTidy · 10/07/2022 17:58

I keep the tall bottles in one of the salad drawers. And then the jars go either in the fridge door or on the top shelf.

????

Like fruit salad you take it out of the fridge early.

We take condiments out when we start cooking tea. It's part of the process of deciding what we want to eat.

And what else would you put in the fridge door shelves?
