Paint protection on car.

Not really an AIBU, but car dealer wants me to have Diamond Brite paint protection on my new car. (Of course he does!) is it worth the £300? My dad had it and didn't think it was worth it and hasn't bothered since.

Coming from some one who used to restore and spray cars for a living. Save your money and get some really nice cleaning kit for your car from brands like Q2M, BriteMan, GTECNIQ ect. Buy some interior detailer spray and exterior quick detailer spray to apply after washing, also bug tar remover.

Give your new car a clean 1 a week or two and always clean off bird droppings as soon as you spot them ideally 24hrs.

Diamond brite will not stop stone chips, scratches or swirl marks. It won't stop bird droppings etching into your pain if left on and it won't stop dirt / tar sticking to your car and it won't stop it getting dirty.

It won't stop your colour fading as modern paints don't fade like old cars used to, that's a false claim. 👍

Thanks, it's chip and scratch protection that I wanted but it doesn't seem to do that. I'm not bothered about paint fading. It's a car not a painting.

My current car is 9 years old and hasn't had it and doesn't seem to have done it any harm! Any damage to paintwork is my fault.

We have it and I do recommend it.

Thanks. I'm having it because it's was already included in the finance deal and they don't want to do a third credit check. And they've apparently given me enough discounts that's it won't cost anything. Though I'd lost the plot by that point.

I also have it, it's a 'skin' and it's brilliant. My car is 7 years old now and nothing sticks to it. It gleams when it's been cleaned (bog standard car wash).

We’ve got it. Dh swears by it. Me 🤷‍♀️ It was already on one of the cars at purchase, the other being yellow - Dh was swayed on the ‘fade’ issue.
I do have to admit, I just use a bucket of fresh cold water and a cloth and they both come up like new. So saved a fortune in money and time on polish and shampoos etc.

It's a ceramic coating you can get at any decent car detailer/valeters. Resists dirt and makes washing easier but won't do much to stop scratches.

It's worth it, but shop around - you'll probably be able to get it cheaper. Dealers always mark up these kind of things up quite a bit.

Get it if you can. Our car looks shiny with it.
