To think that not being paid on time is unacceptable

I started a new job last month and today is payday.
Gave all bank details and so on well in advance.
In most jobs I've had the money enters my bank account just after midnight or early hours.
Still haven't received anything so I emailed payroll team to ask if there was a rough idea what time it went into bank accounts usually.
They just replied saying, "the money hasn't left the payroll account yet, if it doesn't come in today it should be Monday."

I don't think this is good enough really. Monday is still 3 days away and luckily I have some money to tide me over until then but I imagine that not everybody does, or have direct debits coming out on Payday or just after.

Disgraceful. I’ve only worked one place like that and I can still remember once when there was total uproar from literally everyone due to late pay (3 days!) One of the main reasons I left as it happened regularly. I now work in the public sector and they’re very good for paying on time.

I do payroll for a private school as it goes. We’re extremely busy atm.

No one starts without a contract - no exceptions.

All starters are required to return payroll forms before starting.

I put new starters on provider they’re there a week prior to payday.

Its the single most important thing I do and there would be questions to answer if I didn’t pay as expected.

I’d be livid if I were you.

No contract and no pay? I'd be out the door.

Has your DBS been done yet?!

I had this every month when childminding, 1 family just did not give a c* and would pay me when they wanted and it had nothing to do with when they were paid . They just did not see me as a priority different excuse every month why it was late in the end I had a enough and gave them notice .

A few people saying that I've missed the cut off date or that I haven't properly been set up yet as I'm new. I can assure that this is categorically not the case.

Feel your pain. My care home has underpaid me by 50 hours this month. I've been trying to get it paid for the last three weeks. Keep getting fobbed off. What makes matters worse is that I told the manager it was wrong before payroll happened, was assured it was sorted. It wasn't. I am in the union, I've given them a payment deadline or I'm going to them. Then the care home will have a few questions to answer regarding illegal hours and illegal shift patterns.
Good luck getting your money op!

BACs payments are a three day cycle. Send on Wednesday, in the account early Friday Am.

If they are saying it hasn't gone yet they must be using Faster payments, which are same day, and can arrive up to 7pm.

Or, they are slapdash and don't give damn about the staff
