How often do you use your bedroom?

I used to use mine for only sleeping but since I changed my room around and got some nicer furniture in here and a little rug, I've been coming up and sitting in here to chill out almost every day.

My parents used to sit in their bedroom for cups of tea and reading or Internet (as it evolved) and I am just realising that even as adults sometimes when we visit our parents we will just go chill on their bed like its a Saturday morning when we were children. which is pretty wierd but they had nice furniture and made their bed to sit on. Lovely mattress who h is more comfy than the sofa.

DH has put his exercise bits and bobs up here too and he frequently works out, whereas before it was nice in here he didn't as much.

No kids allowed unless invited too which makes it 'our space'

So how do you use your room?

(I thought about this because of the other bedroom thread where people were suggesting op give up her bedroom for her children. which is bonkers to me! parents get the biggest room)

I don't even sleep in mine 😳

I have a double bed in DDs room as she co-sleeps at least half the night and our main bed is ridiculously high with wood floor underneath. My half of the main bed is used as the clean washing pile. The floor is used as storage for general crap.

It a shame because it's a lovely light room with big bay windows and very nicely decorated underneath all the mess.

I use mine for sleeping, but also reading and occasionally important laptop tasks (banking, writing letters), as anywhere else in the house I sit I get 'mummy, mummy, mummy'-d to death, not to mention Dh's radio and/or TV blaring.

I don't want it to be inviting for anyone else!

I'd love a quiet space to sit anywhere else in the house but can't imagine it will happen til I'm an elderly lady living alone!

I particularly live in my bedroom. Don't really watch TV so no point in ever sitting in the living room.

If I'm home, I'm in my bedroom. I love it.

Sleeping and sex

Loads at the moment as I have a newborn so we go up about 9pm and I watch TV for a couple of hours while feeding her/she dozes. I love being in the bedroom/in bed generally. Reading in bed, having a daytime snooze, etc.

I spend more time in the bedroom when kids aren’t around than the living room. Prefer watching tv etc in there.

I only sleep in my room.
Its always a mess and full of clothes.

Always mean to clean it but I never get round to it...

rocksonrocks · 07/07/2022 17:32

For sleeping and getting ready only! We rarely use it. A shame really as it's beautiful and full of furniture which cost us a fortune but we're always chilling in the lounge/garden etc.

I’m lying on my bed now, with all the windows open. Lots of pillows and cushions propping me up…..bliss. I suppose I’ll have to get up soon and think about the supper.

@nickthefox I think it’s funny how you mention that you had nice memories of being in your parents room as a child but then say no kids allowed in yours; just a strange link.
I definitely use my bedroom to relax and love it , have made it nice and comfy and use it to read. I regret getting rid of our tv in there , I used to have strong opinions on tvs being terrible in rooms but then I had children who in turns woke up a million times a night for years and years and it literally saved my sanity. It was so relaxing and actually helped me sleep…. Would defo get one again .
Our bedroom has a fireplace which is sooo nice and cosy in winter. I also love cuddling my kids there.

I used to always just use the bedroom for sleeping at night, but in the last few weeks have noticed that if I want to read or am on the tablet, I gravitate upstairs with my gadgets and a drink and stretch out on the bed with plenty of cushions. I've now realised why. My very, very, very old sofa has become so lumpy with the springs sticking out and is too short for me to stretch out on comfortably.

I need a new sofa, However my bedroom is also much lighter and there is something so blissful about being able to stretch out on the bed in just my underwear or just a loose T-shirt when it's hot with the windows wide open and not being able to be seen, that is just bliss.
