Just read this is another thread I was just a plain Jane.

Why does the name Jane have to be associated with the name Jane.

All the Jane's I know are far from plain?
Very negative association with the name Jane.

My mum was called Alice, apparently a long time ago people used to say “slack Alice” .

my sister is called Mary - she can definitely be contrary 😂

dh is very happy with being “clever Trevor”

Plain Jane Super Brain was really clever tho (and gorgeous when she took off her specs 🙄)

Plain Jane Superbrain's big 'reveal' was hilarious. Literally took off her glasses and everyone swooned. I did love her though.

I'm a Jane. It's also fair to say I'm a bit alternative in the way I dress/look.
If asked to spell my name I usually say Jane, the plain version. A few times I've had people laugh and say 'yeah, you're far from that'.

I don't find it in any way offensive, I always took it to mean the difference between Jane and Jayne, with Jane being plain and Jayne being the fancy version.

It was meant to lighthearted.

Thanks for all the other alternatives.
