NCSR
as anyone ever had a coil fitted to helped with endometriosis and adenomyosis. I didnt have any symptoms before of either so no cramps or anything. Since having it fitted 2 weeks I have had cramps and a bad tummy. I have started a period today. I know i had it fitted two weeks ago but how is the period supposed to feel. This one has lots of clots in and feels painful and super heavy. Sorry to be graphic. Any help please. Thanks

Aibu to want to have it taken out as it hasn't really helped or should I wait a while till its embedded a bit and see what happens next month.

Wait, it gets better once it's bedded in - sorry I couldn't think of a better way of saying it
Think mine took a good couple of months

My periods were always heavier and lasted longer, and had a longer 'run up' of discharge/spotting beforehand when I had the coil. For the first few months they were more painful as well. None of that was made clear to me prior to having them fitted (I've had 2 copper coils). But, no one really gave me the full information on what to expect when I had the injection, implant or pill either, all of which had much worse side effects.
See how you go if you can for 6 months in order to make a decision, it did get better for me over time and once this baby is out of me I'll probably have another fitted.

Mine took 6 weeks to settle down but was then the best thing ever and I ended up having one for 7 years (replaced after 5). I only got it removed to TTC.

In my experience, you tolerate a whole host of side effects for almost a year, hating it for every minute of that time, being told by the Dr that it'll settle. And then the Dr agrees that it's not suitable for everyone and grudgingly removes it.

I had mine for 10 months and it never got any better. My periods were so heavy and painful I would pass out. When I got it removed I could not believe the difference and have never complained about a period since!

Is it a copper coil or Mirena? Very different in my experience.
Regular coil made my periods worse but I used one for contraception before DC.
Mirena coil fantastic. After DC I had 3. Proper painful to fit but after that bliss. No period to speak of, no issues whatsoever.

I think it's a copper one as she said it would work better.

Similar experience for me.
They really don’t want to take them out early do they?

Justmuddlingalong · 06/07/2022 21:53

The threat of YouTube removal videos seems to motivate them. 😉

My first one fell out 😂

i was in the shower, sat down to shave my legs, saw something strange, like a wire... pulled on it and there it was! My coil!

never felt it come out so I screamed the house down in surprise.

The second ones has been in for 2 years and still in place. Makes my boobs leak milk right before my period though.
