To think NASS need to refund these festival-goers?

So yesterday NASS announced there’d be no shuttle buses to/from the nearest rail station which is 90 mins walk away from the site. They said not to therefore travel there by train as it would not be possible to walk on the roads as they aren’t suitable. But no refunds for festival tickets are available! Coaches are sold out. My daughter and her friend literally have no way of getting there other than by train, so they won’t be able to go yet can’t get a refund. I think it’s outrageous- aibu?

Apparently the shuttle buses are still going to run. 5 per hour instead of 7-9.
This is after the local councillor intervened as there was mayhem last year due to people trying to walk from the train station to the ground.

Local councillor also says that if you intended to arrive by train you will be given a free parking ticket so you can drive if you would prefer.

@Bellie99 thanks I’ll check that

@Bellie99 where did you find this info? Can’t see it on the NASS website

@TimBoothseyes yes

The road is a busy main route with no footpaths and can be quite narrow in places. Castle Cary is a very small town (a little bigger than a village), so taxis will be scarce (probably based in Shepton or Yeovil), and are likely to be extortionate, on a "normal" weekend they charge between £20 -25 for a 10 mile trip...as I found out when I got one to take me back home from Shepton one Saturday afternoon. One of Glastonbury's licensing conditions is to lay on transport from the station to Worthy farm (which is just a couple of miles away from Shepton). I'm surprised NASS haven't had the same imposed on them tbh.

TimBoothseyes · 06/07/2022 16:53

Ah I see that they are providing transport.

I live locally and just checked the NASS website. I agree there is conflicting info on there. There's a ticker saying 'Do Not Travel To NASS By Train', yet the info suggests there are still shuttle buses to the B&W showground.

Whatever they do, I wouldn't attempt to walk from Castle Cary station to the showground, the road is a reasonable rural one, but not suitable for walking along at all.

It would be ridiculous of NASS at the last minute to say shuttle buses are unavailable, you'll struggle to get a taxi also.

I'm afraid that's not much help, but given the location, I would have expected an established festival such as NASS to have contingency in place if there was an issue with the shuttle buses last minute.

stuffnthings · 06/07/2022 17:02

and also just seen the update on shuttle buses, that's good. It would be ridiculous without them.

motogirl · 06/07/2022 17:09

So are they just going for the day or staying elsewhere? There's very few trains from castle Cary none late at night

Bellie99 · 06/07/2022 18:00

@YaWeeGobshite it was on local Facebook page from local councillor.
I would be concerned though about day ticket for Sunday and getting home by train as @motogirl says, there are very few trains from castle Cary. For Glastonbury they put special ones on, but it doesn't appear to be the case for This weekend.

YaWeeGobshite · 06/07/2022 18:04

@Bellie99 i see - wish they’d update their message 😩
@motogirl they’re just going for Friday
