Bumbling incompetent or liar who thinks he's above the rules?

YABU - He is just an adorably bumbling fool who can't remember important information that his very important job necessitates him being able to. Or even seemingly use a post it note, notebook, database or a competent member of staff to help him do so. No, just totally fine to forget stuff.... ooops sorry!

kinda like if any of us were to make a mistake in our jobs that was really important, repeatedly lie about it until called out and then think that saying whoops sorry I forgot would be a totally fine defence? and not just make others question our competence for the role?

or that if someone on Universal Credit forgot about an appointment then they wouldn get total sympathy and not their benefits stopped? or that if in court it would be an infallible defence to say sorry, that you forgot that something was illegal? and then we'd all move on.

YANBU - is it just me or do you feel like you're going insane? what is happening in this country.

I blame our MPs for allowing this to happen. They could stop it but instead they parade out daily telling lies just like Boris to cover for him

Featuredcreature · 05/07/2022 18:23

If its Boris that has made you think you are going insane, you are doing very well. I have given up caring, which is probably the point.

balalake · 05/07/2022 18:25

Misogynistic serial killer is my preferred description. We will look back in 20 to 30 years time with a deep sense of shame at Mr Johnson's period in office.

the80sweregreat · 05/07/2022 18:29

The phone in today on lbc this morning was interesting: one caller made a very good point that the likes of Mr Raab etc should think ' would they stick up for me ?' Probably not ..
It's also these ministers that come out every time to defend their boss that are also lying because they must realize that a lot of it is nonsense?

RoseslnTheHospital · 05/07/2022 18:30

Both, it's not an either or.

leotardrock · 05/07/2022 18:31

Can anyone imagine that in any professional role they have held having a discussion about a sexual complaint about a colleague being upheld & forget about it? Confused

Unless of course there are so many of them you can't keep track!

mbosnz · 05/07/2022 18:32

The two are not mutually exclusive.

Carrotzen · 05/07/2022 18:40

He is both

But I think being bumblingly incompetent when you do such an important job is just as immoral as being a liar. If you are fucking up your job and causing the level of harm he is then you have a duty to give it up

the80sweregreat · 05/07/2022 18:43

Hoping that these two resignations today might set things in motion to get him out

Definitely.
I always compare him to my headteacher colleagues. Employing a staff member such as Pincher, without due safer recruitment practices under safeguarding of staff and children - OFSTED would judge as INADEQUATE.

School removed from local authority control. HT sacked.

Yet the leader of our country can do what he wants.

Fushiadreams · 05/07/2022 18:59

I think he lied. I think he took the decision to give pincher the job as pincher apologised and hadn’t repeated the behaviour. It was a terrible error of judgement.

Pincher did it again and Boris instead of just owning it and saying “ yes I knew and I believed he wouldn’t do it again and because he apologised and said he wouldn’t do it again and hadn’t, I thought it was a one off drunken mistake. and I made a bad decision thinking it shouldn’t kill his career, he deserved another chance , I was wrong” , Boris just lied and said he didn’t know instead of admitting that error of judgment.

it’s not the first time he’s lied, he lied to the queen for goodness sake, this time I’m not sure how long he can last.

the80sweregreat · 05/07/2022 19:01

Boris Johnson forgot about the previous Pincher allegations. As well as being a liar he now also has amnesia now it seems ( or maybe long covid ? )

100problems · 05/07/2022 19:04

If his lips are moving he's lying.

As to the cabinet; a plague on all their houses.

sueelleker · 05/07/2022 19:14

The simple answer is YES to both. He's a liar and a bumbling idiot.

scotsguy1314 · 05/07/2022 19:18

Narcissist and psychopath who thought a bumbling buffoon act would grant him leeway.

limitededitionbarbie · 05/07/2022 19:43

Just think, they will probably make a Netflix series about his tone as pm for our grandkids and their grandchildren to watch in school as a history lesson.

They will all be like wtaf?

Runnerbeansflower · 05/07/2022 19:47

I think he is very clever, but has never been held to account for his actions (sacked from 2 jobs for lying, landed on his feet due to his connections).

So completely out of his depth when finally (very late in the day) held to account

SandAndSea · 05/07/2022 19:52

The whole lot of 'em seem awful to me. The entire system needs to change.

balalake · 05/07/2022 19:55

I believe Mr Johnson is an alcoholic judging by his behaviour and comparing it with relatives of mine who were (now deceased). So the amnesia is quite possible but not defensible.

the80sweregreat · 05/07/2022 20:00

I'll be up the local Sainsbury's buying wine and cheese if he is gone by the weekend !.

( dh is a tory , so he will be drowning his sorrows!)
