To ask how do you know if you've broken a bone?

Just fell over. To the side and rolled my ankle. It hurts and felt a crunch!

Should I leave it tonight and see how it is in the morning ? When I broke my wrist I didn't go to A&E until the following day?

Anyway of telling between a sprain and break - without an xray ?

Interesting. Do they do anything for broken ankles these days ? When I broken my wrist they didn't put it in plaster and said they don't normally do that these days!

Just to answer this (though I know you've been to A&E but for future or anyone else), depending on the specifics of the fracture, eg, which bone is broken and where, whether things have moved out of place, they will do things for fractured wrists and ankles. It may be that when you broke your wrist it didn't need anything, but each will be assessed itself, it's not accurate to say they don't usually do anything. Sometimes it's a cast, sometimes surgery, sometimes just monitoring. But don't just assume they won't do anything.
