I've seen some crazy bridezillas on here but this woman beats them all.

Tuned into 'Say Yes to the Dress' US tv show on Quest and this woman is completely mad. She is having 16 bridesmaids, 3 flower girls, 3 ring bearers, 2 ushers. She wants an 8 tier cake, they visited the location which has a natural wooden floor, she insists on a white floor which will cost $3,000. The latest crazy is that she wants to make a BIG entrance and is currently considering arriving by hot air balloon. Her partner is staying well out of it.

Hmm

Wanting a big wedding and spending lots of money isn't necessarily being a bridezilla. If she's being demanding and treating people like shit then she is.

Crankley · 02/07/2022 17:44

Insisting the venue to paint their wooden floors white isn't a bridezilla?

Bonkers.

The Bride organising the fun out of her own wedding.

Chooksnroses · 02/07/2022 18:47

I wonder if she knows you can't actually steer a hot air balloon?

PollenHigh · 02/07/2022 18:48

I’ll give them 6 months.

ILikeHotWaterBottles · 02/07/2022 18:50

Their marriage probably won't last. Hope she'll be happy with the pictures, but doubt it.

IncompleteSenten · 02/07/2022 18:50

I'm judging him for not running away! 😁

SafeMove · 02/07/2022 19:01

I'd be worried about a whole world of problems with the hot air balloon idea. Will the dress throw the weight ratio off? What if the dress catches fire? It's eindy up in the air, hair? Also tipping over on landing.

Dumb as mud idea.

Can you not? I know nothing about hot air balloons 🤣 do they just land wherever then? Or do you just have to wait until you are near the place you want to land then go down?

I know this isn't the point of the thread but you know what I'm googling tonight 🤣

Sounds like he would be just as well to stay away from the actual Wedding too!

But has she said yes to the dress? 😂

There was an amazing book detailing early hot air balloonists - think it’s called “Falling upwards” (there’s also a different, similarly-titled self help book). Worth reading.

Prescottdanni123 · 02/07/2022 19:14

Three ring bearers? How does that work? A relay?

DeanStockwelll · 02/07/2022 19:18

No you can not steer hot air balloons, you can ( using the heat ) rise and lower it to catch different wind currents but it is rather hit and miss.

What on earth are the venue thinking aggreging to paint the floor , they must be mad , it doesn't matter what the floor is made out of it will be a bugger to clean every last bit of paint off after . They would be better off getting some white floor protection type stuff or even lino.

So many bridesmaids ushers etc , well that is ok i guess , a 8 tire cake meh if thats what you want go for it.
It does make me wonder just what other stuff she is insisting on though.

He husband to be is either very patient, naïve , or blinded by love in any case I would be surprised if it last more than a year or so, they may end up still paying off the wedding debt while paying for divorce lawyers fees

I can’t remember what sort of floor my reception venue had!

Whopbamboom · 02/07/2022 19:50

I've worked a wedding where the couple re-carpeted the entire venue with white carpets because they didn't like what was down. In fairness it made a huge difference to the look of the place and it was a vast improvement.
With that said, it's not what i'd choose to spend my money personally but different strokes and all that.

I wonder what the carpet looked like after? or where guests not allowed to step on it? Grin

I always feel a bit sad for people like this. The level of obsession over one day suggests they think it’s the last time they’ll ever have fun or do anything special.

DappledThings · 02/07/2022 20:43

As an avid watcher of Bridezillas the show my all time favourite was the one who insisted anyone already married out of the bridesmaids and ushers remove their own wedding rings before the ceremony so as not to distract from hers.

Crankley · 02/07/2022 20:45

She did say Yes to the Dress. I missed the first part so no idea how much, presumably squillions.

Her parents were going to pay until she started to lose her mind and stopped after a few thousand. I'm with whoever thinks the marriage won't last beyond six months. Absolutely right, it's all about the wedding and not the marriage. Mind you I think that about a lot of them on the programme. One had 22 bridesmaids!

I am in the US and DH and my mom and I once came across a wedding being filmed for Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta. It was a lot of fun; we were having dinner in a restaurant adjacent to the room the wedding ceremony was being held in; one of the guests arrived late and as we could see into the room from our table, we asked her to sit with us. She was the bride's cousin and after the wedding, she told the bride and we were then invited to join the reception. No bridezilla, at all. The wedding and reception were lovely and the dress beautiful.

I'm guessing Hot Air Bride was not from the South. Smile

Crankley · 02/07/2022 22:22

SenecaFallsRedux That sounds amazing. Some of that well known Southern hospitality.

I missed the beginning so don't know where she was located.

The programme is amazing, brides turn up to find a dress with a huge number of people, sometimes even their mother-in-law and groom to be! One bride turned up with her parents and sister who petulantly told the bride that if she tried on and bought the dress that she wanted, she wouldn't be her bridesmaid and would never talk to her again. She wasn't getting married, didn't even have a boyfriend!

This is the sad part of wedding the 'bride' wants a wedding regardless of the groom to be . i understand that a lot of ladies want a fairy tail day but there must be a cut off point .
me and my dh got wed at a local reg office and spent about of about £8,000 food , cloths , over night stay for 6 , photos , food etc . without a doubt we were lucky to know enough people to help us ( we both worked in pubs ) but even if it cost us 2x that much we would of been £100,00 under the budget that some of our friends paid.
we had a fantastic day , lots of true friends ( rather than people we were told we should invite )
The amount you spend certainly doesn't = a happy life after
