I've been offered a good job for a large global company. The work is hybrid and is likely to be a very steep learning curve, but I'm prepared for the challenge. Money and compensation is likely to be pretty decent too, although I'm not motivated by money. I care more about culture of a firm and work life balance.
I am also in final stage interviews with two other smaller digital firms. Both very cool and more aligned to my interests and allow me to be a bit more creative. However, one is a start up and is probably going to be very hectic. Both of these roles are fully remote. Money will be less.
My current role is in banking and is very flexible with chilled environment. We have busy periods but we don't have to have emails on our phone or anything like that. Also hybrid.
I am really not sure what to do. I don't have kids or any big responsibilities outside of work but I am in my 40's and hoping to retire by 60(!) do you think I'm crazy for considering the digital firms? It'll mean late nights and crazy hours I expect but then the large corporate will want their pound of flesh too. The pension at the corporate is very good, so that is something I'd consider too.
I know it's always a gamble.
I want to see if I get offers from the digital roles but am aware I need to give the corporate their answer by Monday.
So I suppose it's a mix of AIBU questions.
AIBU for wanting to stall on the offer and wait and see if I get offered the digital roles? How long can I stall for?
AIBU for wanting a more creative and less corporate job even though money will be less and stress could be higher? Less people = more work for everyone, right?!
Please let me know your thoughts and sorry for the ramble. I am particularly interested to hear from anyone who does work for a large multinational or big four as this company is like that. I've never worked for a huge firm. What's it like? Also anyone who has worked for a start up. I know they're all different, but would like to hear your individual experiences. Thanks all.
