Hope it's ok to post here for traffic and apologies for the graphic nature but MNs posters seem to always have the answers so hoping someone will recognise what this may be.

I have endometriosis and fibroids and some other issues so frequently have clots but nothing like this ever before.

It looks smaller in the picture than in reality. It's very shiny in parts and the white piece is very lumpy and sort of flesh like.

I have an appointment next week but just wondering if I need to be worried and of anyone can identify this and if I need to be worried?

Apologies again,I know it's disgusting.

Google decidual cast and see if this makes sense to you, I am a bit squeamish and have only glanced at the picture but I'm taking a guess this is what it is ❤️

BuntyMcHooves · 30/06/2022 13:19

I don't know what it is and don't have personal experience of the conditions you have. I would phone your GP surgery and see if you can email the pic to them - they did that kind of thing in lockdown. (Unless someone more knowledgeable comes on and tells you otherwise).
Do you have any unusual symptoms with it?

I just googled this and realised I had this once, long ago! My life was a mess at the time and I just ignored it though 😞

Mariposista · 30/06/2022 13:25

It’s not disgusting OP, it’s a medical issue just like a broken arm would be. Go and see a doctor and get some answers and reassurance. Gynae issues are not nice.

Over40Overdating · 30/06/2022 13:26

Looks like a decidual cast OP - usually nothing to worry about but quite distressing if you’ve never heard of it!

TheCatOfAthenry · 30/06/2022 14:34

Looks like a decidual cast. No harm double checking with GP.

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 30/06/2022 15:34

yeah I'd never heard of them but has happened to me at least once I suspect that they're more common than people /doctors realise there's just such a big taboo still about talking about our periods.

BMW6 · 30/06/2022 16:13

Looks just like other pics of decidual casts on Google, nothing to worry about but you would be wise to see GP

ThirtyThreeTrees · 30/06/2022 17:47

Thank you all so much.

It does seem to match the description of a decidual cast. Never heard of it before & thought I was pretty clued in on these things.

It literally feel out of me this morning when I was getting into the shower so I got a bit of a shock! Mild panic that my insides had fallen out & that it could never be good news.

I mentioned it to the nurse today who rang to confirm my appointment & she seems very chilled about it but asked I I bring it to the appointment so they can double check it.

Thanks again, panic over.

They should warn people about these at school!

Darkstar4855 · 30/06/2022 18:30

Decidual cast, nothing to worry about.

Ponderingwindow · 30/06/2022 18:38

I’ve got uterine scarring so things come out unevenly pretty regularly. You should talk to your doctor but there really is no need to panic. Your menstrual lining is much more complex than the health textbook likes to pretend.

CallOnMe · 30/06/2022 19:00

I agree with the above.

I showed this to a gp and they said it was just the lining of the uterus.

Obviously if you’re worried or having different symptoms then don’t be afraid to see a doctor.

PandaOrLion · 30/06/2022 19:03

I get these sometimes. Not sure if it’s linked to my fibroids but never been particularly phased by it (perhaps I should be!)

RicherThanYew · 30/06/2022 19:05

I have endo and have had similar to your photo op, but it's still good that you're getting checked out and spoke to a nurse.

Iwantmyoldnameback · 30/06/2022 19:06

The bit on the left looks like a polyp.

neverbeenskiing · 30/06/2022 19:31

I have endometriosis and have had this many times. I was told it's uterine lining and nothing to worry about.

I'm a biology teacher and I had never heard of this before this post. It definitely should be taught in schools!!

Yes a special lessons on things that might seem weird about your body.

Shitscared123 · 30/06/2022 20:20

The famous MN decidual cast. Never heard of them until I saw posts on here.

To be fair, that is a lot of what I end up teaching haha.

DemBonesDemBones · 30/06/2022 20:40

Definitely looks like a decidual cast.

ThirtyThreeTrees · 07/07/2022 22:23

An update for anyone who is interested.

Had a gp appointment this evening. She wasn't sure if it was a decidual cast or what it it. She did a smear test, took bloods, did an internal, an a pregnancy test which was negative (this is the same woman (among others) who told me I cannot have children!!

She didn't really seem to have a clue & seemed surprised that I hadn't kept it & brought it with me!!!

Anyway, she has decided I should go back to my gyn so it was really a waste of time.
