Weird Police car

Why would a police car do this?

I was driving down what used to be the A1. I had my cruise control set to 60mph. I notice a police car behind me, do the mental panic even through I'm not breaking any laws that I'm aware of.

It pulls into the other lane (only 2 lanes) as if it's going to overtake me which I think ok but weird as it's not flashed at me to pull over or does it have it's blues and twos on.

It then stays there for probably 20 seconds until a lorry appears on the other side of the road so approaching the police car,then it pulls back in behind me. Stays behind me for maybe 10mins then pulls into a lay-by.

@tiswhatitis to be honest at 2 am leaving the city centre I'd be following a vehicle to make sure either 1. A lone female got hime
Safe or 2. Monitoring the driving to make sure it wasn't a drunk driver

As a cop - trust me . It won't have been doing anything. Cursing alone the A1 - not wanting to speed - no blues n twos so sticking to limit - pulled out - can't psd you cos you're not speeding and they can't - pulled into lay-by or as we always say - pogged up waiting for something to happen or a call to come in .

Please do not worry your head about it !

All police seem weird cos they stand out .

They won't have been remotely interested in you or your car .
