To think this is good value

How much would you expect this to cost for 12-15 year olds?

It's a three week summer school 9.00 till 17.30 - Lunch included.

The fee is per week as you can choose any 1 week, or 2 or all 3.
Week one is
Rope park - Disney - Bowling- Laser game - Pool/Gym
Week two
Boating - Attraction park - Adventure Park -Asterix Park Pool football
Week three
Park +Museum - Attraction Park - Town visit + restaurant - trampoline park - Pool

How much would you think this costs per week before possible public subsidiaries/ means tested reductions /multiple child reduction - so the absolute max cost.

I think it's cheap - friend thinks it's too expensive.

Thanks

Well I'm assuming this is in America as we don't have Disney land in the UK so I couldn't even begin to guess. I will say though that sounds like an awful lot of very full on activities to cram into each week with not much down time. The kids will be knackered.

Hellocatshome · 28/06/2022 23:11

Ah ok just spotted the photo so is it in France? In which case still no idea as I dont know how much those things would cost in France if you did them individually rather than an actual group.

minipie · 28/06/2022 23:12

It’s in France. A theme park per week, and all the other stuff, wow that’s a luxe holiday club!

I’d assume hundreds of euros per week tbh. Maybe low hundreds but still.

DorothyZbornakIsAQueen · 28/06/2022 23:15

Around £300?

JuneJubilee · 28/06/2022 23:16

£500pw?

notreallythough · 28/06/2022 23:17

It's Paris

If you are living in France and this is for French school children, then what you pay will be means tested. There will be 10 levels depending on your family's income. You don't say if it's an away trip or nearby (pos parisian/ Ile de France school organising it).

Assuming no overnight accommodation and you said no means tested reductions then maybe 150 euros a week ?

Mumdiva99 · 28/06/2022 23:18

That looks full on. Is there any time just spent in a hall? Or is it jist full day trips? With the trips £50 max per day. So £200 -£250 per week. A lot of money. But itight be funded in some way.

Xmasbaby11 · 28/06/2022 23:22

Hard to know when it's a different country.

I would estimate 300 euros a week or more. Not all the days are expensive outings but I assume everything is pricey in Paris. It's pretty flashy for a holiday club!

notreallythough · 28/06/2022 23:24

@LeavesOnTrees
It's not a one organised by the "ville" or the "department" - so it's not directly linked to Quotient familial ( foe non French aware - this is a French means testing system - basically revenue dived by 1 point for each adult in household + .5 points for each child ) - it's run by an association - but if the QF is under 750 you can get still a maximum of 240 euros off per child - also able to pay with "cheques vacances"

OP posts:
LeavesOnTrees · 28/06/2022 23:37

Ah then no idea.
I guess depends on the association and how well funded they are. Maybe 250 euros a week ?

bridgetreilly · 28/06/2022 23:41

I would be expecting to pay £150 per week minimum for that. Those are not cheap activities, plus there’s the childcare, and food. Up to £250 per week wouldn’t seem unreasonable, tbh.

notreallythough · 28/06/2022 23:50

@LeavesOnTrees Yeah it's 220 ( £190) euros per week - It's more expensive that the ones organised by La CAF of la ville de Paris - But it's "flashy" (teens preference over the other ones they've looked at ) and I think it's not too bad -Friend would get a reduction of 80€ per week + has a Cheque vacance for 100€ so one week would come to 40€ (£34) out of pocket. It's their teen not mine - but they want to find somewhere with no out of pocket ( out of principle - not financial need - we often eat out together at the weekend and spend more on one meal). They told teen ( 14 y/o) to find somewhere... I'm sort of thinking that parent is being very very mean as the teens friends have signed up... and parent is complaining as there were other municipal camps that would have cost only 15€ out of pocket for the week ....

Keepyoursarcasmtoyourself · 28/06/2022 23:57

£34 is obviously a bargain, a steal.

Petitecoccinelle · 29/06/2022 00:00

I am with you OP and think that is very reasonable for all of those activities. I would be over the moon if my child could experience all of that for €220 per week, let alone €40 per week which it sounds like is final out of pocket expense for your friend.

That said, every person has a different attitude towards money and spending so this just may not represent good value to someone else in the way it does to you or I, and if it doesn’t fit what they’re looking for then that’s their choice and nothing you can do about it at the end of the day!

JuneJubilee · 29/06/2022 09:56

She's being a complete dick, poor kid!!

dancinfeet · 29/06/2022 10:08

that’s really good value, dance/drama summer camps cost £60-£80 for 6 days here and that is 10-3pm and doesn’t include food or any trips, just an end of week performance (on site, not at a theatre)

LeavesOnTrees · 29/06/2022 11:16

It's prob a false economy not sending them as she's likely to spend more entertaining them herself.
I don't think teenagers can be fobbed off with a trip to the local park and an ice cream.
Can they do some odd jobs to earn a bit of cash to pay the extra ?

notreallythough · 29/06/2022 12:38

I’m thinking of « employing » said teenager for a day to spring clean my appartment in exchange for 45 euros - I’m just not sure how the parent will take it … and I don’t want to ruin a friendship …
