Earwigs.....Burn the house down?

Lately I have noticed a few earwigs in the house, which is unusual.
This morning I picked up my cardigan which had been on the back of a garden chair overnight ( I had forgotten about it after sitting out ) I brought it indoors and decided to wash it with some other bits.
I gave it a quick shake before putting it in the machine and god knows how many earwigs flew off it and scattered everywhere, mostly under the washer and fridge!
I've pulled both appliances out, swept and mopped the floor and hoovered the remaining floors.
Has anyone else noticed them or an increase of them?
I'm going to have to burn my house down aren't I 😕

Earwigs are surprisingly cool as insects go. Did you know that the mums stay with their young and protect them? Earwigs are translucent when they first hatch, but the mum stays and guards them until they are older and start to turn brown.

Ant powder probably works to get rid of most crawling insects.

@heathspeedwell that's lovely, but can they do their parenting in the garden rather than my house 🙂
I never thought about ant powder, I'll give it a go, thanks

We had earwigs. I got a pest controller out and he sprayed something inside and outside around the perimeter. Never saw another one and it’s been about 12 years now. Money well spent. Although to be fair I can’t remember how much it was!

@Allywill Thanks, I will look into that if the problem persists beyond the next couple of weeks.
