...to ask for tips for my concrete floor?

High traffic room, carpet looks bloody awful. Concrete floor underneath, but 'unfinished.' It's roughly done, but I don't mind things looking a bit rustic Grin

What do we do with this floor? I'd like to leave it as concrete, with a big Persian rug over most of it. What's the best way to do that? Do we treat it? Paint it? Sand it down? How long does it all take?

We're hard workers and have a ton of tools and are good at learning to do stuff and getting on with it, so we're definitely have a bash ourselves, rather than getting someone in.

Any tips?

We have the same. I was just thinking of floor paint.. frechie one.. a local shop has done it and it looks good.
She sanded, painted, sealed.

If its a high traffic room I'd look at contract lino. Its washable and you'd get a good choice of finish. You can have it laid and ready to use the same day, and wouldn't have to wait for ages for paint and sealant to dry.

If it's high traffic I really wouldn't paint it. I'd level it and tile or put LVT down.

Laminate?

Are you in a hot county or the UK?

I have a lino that looks like wood, and then a fluffy rug over my concrete floor

We have concrete floors downstairs in our house we have different flooring in different rooms (carpet, wood, porcelain tiles) and it all looks good.

Brilliant, thanks all. We're in the UK btw (pp).

I should add that I'm not actually terribly bothered about how it looks when it's done Grin I'm happy with a fairly 'industrial' finish, provided it's got some kind of sealant on for dust etc. I think most of it will be covered with a gigantic rug.

I'm hoping to get it done in a couple of days - is that realistic? I'm nipping out, but will come back for more tips!

THanks again.
