More of a rant vent, advise if any you can help with.

For past several months I have been having difficulty walking, upon walking my feet/calf’s go into a cycle of cramps, pins and needles and then numbness which lasts until i then rest.

On going to the gym the symptoms worsen to the point I have to stop as the pain is intense.

I cannot bare cold feet as this cause intense cramps to the point you can visually see my feet curling.

For the past month or so my feet are swelling and going a slight purple colour, I’ve weirdly got a bulge (swelling) on my neck/collarbone.

I’ve also got some discomfort on my chest wall, going towards my left breast and worsens when I take a deep breath.

I’ve twice put what I believed was a GP app , only to get there and be seen by a nurse who has advised I need a GP,, GP has cancelled advising bloods need taken however this appointment has been rearranged 2 times now and GP won’t see me until bloods results are in (appointment now end of next month)

Yesterday on walking 200m for lunch with colleagues, I had to stop as the pain was very tense and found that I was actually catching my breath, along with going dizzy, colleague advised I went ashen, fortunately another colleague had their car and drove me back to work where dh came and picked me up.

I called my GP and asked for an emergency appointment with a GP and not a nurse, was given an appointment however on attending urgent care last night was seen by a NURSE

Advised of the above and she noted my swollen legs and purple tinge, asked me to press my feet against her hands, while she checked the circulation … noted the swelling and discolouration and then advised it was because of the weather and that I was a smoker!!! 🤯

I advised that Ive NEVER smoked a day in my life and stated this isn’t a one off and has been going on for several months and even if my swollen feet was caused by the weather, this wouldn’t explain the other symptoms.

She rolled her eyes and said well I suppose you want me to check chest and heart… which she did and said all sounded fine.

She then reported that I need to see a GP and that she didn’t know what was wrong, however she would leave notes on the system to advise I need an appointment.

I’ve phoned the GP this morning and they’ve advised no notes on the system of me seeing anyone last night and that there is currently no appointment with the GP, to try again next week.

I’ve phoned 111 who advised I need to speak to my GP.

I’ve asked to speak to the practice manager however been advised they are not available until next Wednesday.

Im 5ft 6, 11st 7Ib, late 30’s never smoked, bottle of red wine a week and eat mostly healthy (bar the weekly takeaway) and try at the gym 3-4 times per week (yoga, aqua aerobics, weights and gym). I myself would say I’m fit and healthy other than the above.

I’d go to an out of hours or A&E personally

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 24/06/2022 09:36

That sounds awful. Is there Livi option in your area or out of hours doctor service at the weekend?

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 24/06/2022 09:45

Urgent care is out of hours I was seen there last night at 8pm.

I don’t believe I warrant a A&E visit.

I’ve just put the washing out (walking for less than 20mins) and my feet are swelling and the cramps have started, they go full pudding swelling to the point I can’t move my toes or bend my ankles.

Possibly not very useful to say now but I would have gone to A&E yesterday with the breathing difficulties (if I’ve read that correctly)

There is something wrong with your GP surgery if you are not managing to see a GP. My last place if you were waiting at the door when they opened the surgery at 8am you were guaranteed a same day appt (which made for some truly uncomfortable waits) but that was pre Covid.

Do you have an urgent care facility near you?

MrsOwainGlyndŵr · 24/06/2022 09:50

Do you have the doctorlink app in your area? You enter all your symptons and if it thinks you need to see a GP it will make the appointment for you, with your own surgery. Sometimes you get a call back first.
It works really well - I was quite impressed with it.

MrsOwainGlyndŵr - when I use E-consult it won’t let my book as advised I need to see a GP.

GP won’t see me without the blood results and the blood results have been cancelled twice and I have an appointment at the end of next month for them to be drawn.

the breathing issue I put down to the pain tbh.

You should have gone to a&e if you were having difficult breathing and 'ashen' complexion. That does warrant an a&e visit. If it happens again you just do so.

I'm sorry you're having such a crap experience with your GP. You should complain to the practice manager, you're being passed from pillar to post and this treatment is not good enough. Lots of GP's are really a waste of time at the moment. I work in the NHS and the amount of crap requests we are getting from GP's who haven't even bothered to see their patients is astounding.

The doctor link app actually makes the GP appointment for you.
