I developed a mild cough just over a week ago. I was suffering with hay-fever (as I always do at this time of year) and assumed that it was connected to that. Then heard that I had been in close contact with someone shortly before the cough started, so I thought I had better test. Did a ltf on Tuesday and it was a strong positive. Have been isolating since then. I now think that I may have had the virus from when the cough actually started, but I can't be sure of that.

I have since done 3 more ltf tests, all negative. I feel fine in myself. Still coughing and had a bit of a headache but nothing serious and no sore throat, fever, body aches etc. The cough actually got worse the day I did the first negative test, which confused me a bit.

I'm supposed to be driving across the country tomorrow to visit some friends, also taking dd (testing negative) to an event in the same area. Friends know about the situation and are fine with it, but I'm not sure if it's OK or not. It will be only be four days after I did a positive test. Confused

If I test negative again today, should I go or would it be better to cancel? Does it make any difference if I'm still coughing a lot?

If you’re testing negative then it seems fine. As you say, the symptoms are the start date not when you test positive.

Sorry, voting should be as follows:

YABU - stop worrying and go
YANBU - you've tested positive so stay at home

Thank you. I'm confused about when the symptoms started, because I initially thought it was hay-fever (and it might have been). My confusion is that the cough has got worse since I did the positive test.

I think I'd discuss with the person you're going with to make sure they're happy and then go

Thanks for the responses. My friends are fine with it and saying to come regardless. I just don't know whether I should...
