AIBU to think £645 is too much for 1 night stay anywhere?

Backstory, my daughter is turning 7 later in August and wants to stay at Legoland for her birthday, also because a few years ago we stayed over for her sisters birthday. Till this day they still say it was the best holiday. My husband and I disliked it mostly, but that's another story.

I really wanted to do this for her, but can't because we just don't have that money, and I can't help but think it is a computer error. We're also not having a party as all her friends are away when it's her birthday, and she said she doesn't want anything else gift wise.
P.s. She likes staying over more than the rides :/

I checked back in my emails and in 2019 we paid £180 for 1 night and got park tickets included, and breakfast.

AIBU to say No this is just too expensive. I feel so guilty as I told her "yes, maybe" before I looked at the prices.Any suggestions of alternative places that won't be more than £300 in and around London.

Denmark is a great suggestion. We went a few years ago, at May half term, and virtually had the place to ourselves. The same week , Windsor ground to a complete standstill as it was so busy.

From memory, we stayed and parked at Premier Inn at Stansted , cheap Ryanair flights to Billund the next morning. The runway is next to Legoland, amazingly, and a bus takes you to the park entrance.

We dropped our luggage and had two full park days, two nights in a cabin, then flew home.
There is also a small town centre and a water park if you have time.

Crikey, for that cost, and I'd start looking at Disneyland Paris! I agree with some other posters, Legoland is quite unimpressive.

Also, an out here suggestion, but where are you in the UK, are you in SE? There is an amazing theme park in Belgium, about 45 mins drive frome Calais. It's perfect for that age and absolutely wipes the floor with Legoland. Plopsaland De Panne, there is themed hotel there. We're themed Park fans and so much better than UK parks. We've been 5 or 6 times from when oldest was about 8 and love it.

I’m not saying it’s worth £650 but just To buck the trend we all had a great time when we went. The park was clean and the staff were friendly enough. My daughter constantly asks when we can go back to the pirate hotel. Clearly the answer is not in august!

How can they even justify that. Daylight robbery

I went on several mini breaks to Alton towers legoland etc Pre covid and never paid anything like that!!!!!!

MerryChristmasToYou · 23/06/2022 14:50

I've been to Legoland Windsor a few times, once without the DC.
Enjoyed it, apart from the one time when it rained

Here you go.
We stayed at the holiday village. There is a pirate motel! And lots of other choices!

haha. Don’t. It’s even more expensive. Never have I paid so much to stand in so many queues.

I just got quoted £850 for 2 nights in August. Stupid money. I hate lefoland unfortunately they kids love it.

I don't know what the prices are like this year but glancing at Chessington was fab. Also really rate Paultons. The older side isn't as busy.

HereComesYourMam · 23/06/2022 16:41

If you do look into Denmark, check the Danish (and maybe German) school holidays - it'll be way quieter later in August.

Another reason to go there is Lego House, which is in the same town and an absolutely brilliant day out.

TrialofTrials · 23/06/2022 16:55

Just been to billund legoland and loved it. Depending on times both lego house and lalandia water park were amazing and all nearby.

Needmorelego · 23/06/2022 17:01

Does she actually like Lego? Find a nice hotel (if she wants the hotel experience) and buy her this Lego set instead...

Treehouse lodges, if she likes novelty! Although some of them are just as expensive as Legoland actually ...
