To just want to go to Blackpool ?

Me and my partner are going on holiday in first week of November to the Canary Islands.
I'm really looking forward too it.
She has a week off in September and we have planned to go to Blackpool for the illuminations.
Now I'm really excited for Blackpool as I went every year with my parents and have such good memories.
My mum passed away when I was 13 so Blackpool is a nice comforting place for me.

She has now turned around and said she wants us to go to either Cyprus or Greece instead of Blackpool.
Aibu to just say no?
I mean we are going to the Canary Islands 7 weeks later so she will still get her sunshine fix.
What would you do?
We have no more weekends or weeks off this year so this is our only chance.

Last year we paid £130 for two nights including breakfast but it was a dive

I love Blackpool
I'm close enough for a day trip though so no need to stay overnight.

It does look like a decent hotel, I'm just shocked at the price. I paid less for 3 people in a super chic Paris hotel in school holidays.

This is one of a million reasons why I hate going away in England! I reckon you could have a long weekend somewhere beautiful like Lisbon for that money after school hols!

It's fair enough for you to get your short Blackpool break too OP, and Sunday to Tuesday is reasonable. It's not my favourite place, but there has to be some give and take.

Alternatively, is there anyone else you could go with?

The Premier Inn is £110 for 2 nights 4th-6th Sept, brand new hotel, that Boulevard place is well batting above it's weight for Blackpool!

I’d compromise and stay somewere cheaper in Blackpool then, then she doesn’t feel short changed by wasting Greece level money in blackpool. I do like blackpool for a short trip but there’s no way I’d spend that much money on the hotel there, stay at premier inn or just be picky about b&bs
