Today over 85% of our hospital staff managed to get into work - taxi, scooter, bike, feet, car, paid for hotels out of their own pocket, stayed with colleagues, used the boat service etc

We kept services safe and continued to deliver clinics , operations and emergency care for 100s of people.

I agree with pay rises but not without modernisation of working practices, efficiency and moving with technology.

True key workers have stood up today and will do it every day of every strike, as they end up out of pocket for antiquated working practices and an intransigence to move into the 21st century

Terrific race, the Romans. Terrific.

It wasn’t that long ago nurses were striking themselves.

WWYD3 · 21/06/2022 22:50

Workers are all in this together. We need to support one another or conditions and pay will be a race to the bottom.

Hellocatshome · 21/06/2022 22:54

True key workers 🤔 I'm not sure why people seem to have decided some jobs are more worthy than others. Yes you all went to work despite it being harder/more expensive than usual, so did lots of other people.

DorothyZbornakIsAQueen · 21/06/2022 22:58

I hope all that is predicted is true and nhs workers, teachers etc., all follow the lead and strike for better pay and conditions.

The way workers are treated in this country is a fucking disgrace.

I support all strikes. With the erosion of workers rights, its all we've got left.

SavoirFlair · 21/06/2022 23:01

Good lord I really hope the OP doesn’t work in any leadership position in the NHS, but from the lofty sanctimonious tone, I think I’ve made a positive ID

ErrolTheDragon · 21/06/2022 23:02

Depends how much you like ramping up inflation, I suppose. Everyone wants (and many 'deserve') better pay but the consequences are all too predictable.

Indeed but what do we do? The Govn ministers and MPs clearly aren't feeling the struggles.

How do we prevent a race to the bottom?

I thought NHS staff were considering strike action too? As are teachers.

EndersGame · 21/06/2022 23:24

you had me until "True key workers"

You are not better than anyone else struggling to survive. You should be standing in solidarity not spurting sanctimonious clap trap about how important you think you are.

Allywill · 21/06/2022 23:32

What are these antiquated working practices of which you speak? And not everyone believes that increasing wages necessarily drives up inflation. For example increases in the minimum wage have had little if any effect on inflation in recent years.

uneffingbelievable · 22/06/2022 00:08

true key workers are anyone who does their job in my opinion - today we saw millions of people put themselves out to keep things running in many areas of work.

We have to modernise and move forward and that is the bit I hate about the strikes - we want more money ( everyone gets that) - but lets keep inefficient out dated practices - no I do not get that.

Absolute respect to those rail workers who did come to work and help provide a service.

mokololo · 22/06/2022 00:18

I support the right of ordinary people to organise for better pay and conditions.

Zipupyourmickey · 22/06/2022 00:20

No, I don't agree with you at all. Workers should support other workers.

How would you feel if it was your job they were trying to get rid of? That would then increase health and safety concerns.

Would you want people to strike with you then?

Lol. Crossing picket lines doesn't usually get you accolades.

OP, please fuck off with your Tory shit. Thanks.

This. 100%.

Toddlerteaplease · 22/06/2022 18:32

When did nurses last strike? I've been qualified 18 years and not in my time?

SexyBastardSmile · 23/06/2022 09:25

Everyone I know got to work today too. And they support the strikes.

It sounds like you don’t really have a clue OP.

Your "true key workers" comments says a hell of a lot about you. More than you probably realise.

In 2014.

Oooh so now we have "key workers" and "true key workers". Are you going to ask for a different colour discount card?
