I would honestly hate to manage people, is that a bad thing?

Whatever personality is needed, my manager doesn't have it. Sociopathic lack of empathy, poor knowledge of the job and systems, and terrible communication. Everything's her way or the highway, even if she's doing everything arse about face.

The entire team are miserable, and she genuinely believes it's an us problem. It's not, she's just abysmally suited to the job.

Yup. Unless you're unlucky enough to manage a rogue team, disgruntled for reasons outside of your control, or unofficially led by a troublemaker who preceded you; if the odd person has a problem with you is generally them. If everyone does then it's you.

Good managers themselves have good managers, generally. Bad managers create bad ones.

I don't agree. I have had some terrible managers managing me and they didn't affect my management style or behaviour although managing them did add to my workload.

There are some terrible managers about. Micro managing seems to be popular I have no idea why that should be. The whole point of being a good manager is allowing people to get on with it.
