To ask what to do about this fire hazard

I'm such an idiot. I just cleaned the bathroom and thought I'd wipe the light switch. The sponge was a lot wetter than I thought and later when I turned the light off my finger touched the metal bit next to it and I got a slight electric shock. My hands were wet so didn't think too much of it.

However now the light is flickering even though the light switch is off and its making a sort of short circuit sound. I am very scared it could start a fire. It was water and bleach too.

What can I do? Why am I so shit at life? I do stuff like this all the time. I'm freaking out.

I'd urn off at the trip switch and leave 24 hours to dry out & if still concerned, call an electrician

This is very good advice, maybe unscrew the cover a bit as well.
I have done this and it does dry out.

Just for information. It used to be the case you couldn't use wall mounted switches in bathrooms, only pull cords. You could mount the switch outside the bathroom, no problem. Then to keep Europe happy they 'eased' the rules.
Wall mounted switches can be used on the inside of the bathroom, but these must be suitable for use in the bathroom, given the high levels of humidity and condensation. The And they also must be at least 0.6m away from the bath or shower. A pull cord can be used instead, in any location in the bathroom.

You're not shit at life. You made a little mistake. EVERYBODY does this sort of thing once in a while - that's why so many people on this thread are able to advise you what to do now! We've been there. You realised there was a problem, you got advice, and you're dealing with it. You've made a great job of dealing with this situation.

Imagine one of your kids had made a mistake. How would you speak to them about it? What would you say, what tone of voice would you use to them? Speak kindly to yourself just as you would to them. You're a good person and you deserve to be treated nicely. 🤗
