no.

Kids forget and sometimes need to be reminded.

Mother was rude imo.

lovecat · 15/01/2008 09:53

Not at all unreasonable.

Mother's rudeness only confirms why her children have no manners either, unfortunately...

People do seem to be increasingly precious and angry about any criticism, perceived or otherwise, of their DCs...

Mother should have apologised and reinforced what you said. I would have been deeply embarassed if I was in her shoes. YANBU.

No what you did was fine. And TBH the girls are probably more likely to remember something told by someone else rather than their mother IMO. I try and teach DS to hold the gates at school for mothers with pushchairs as I used to ask him to hold the gates for me when DD was in a pushchair.

I'm glad you said something. Kids learn by example. Maybe the mother doesn't do these things and they don't think that they should. My mother was a selfish cow and swore at me all the time. She also did many other things she shouldn't have. As a result, I began to copy these behaviours. Luckily I had good friends in my early twenties and late teens and they made me see how things should be done.
