Does anyone else just find it too hot to sit in the garden ?

I just can't do it. How do you stay cool unless there's a pool or the sea or another way to cool down? I stayed mostly indoors today and usually do.

Does anyone else feel like this or am I a vampire like my husband says?

I can handle the sun when I'm regularly dipping in a pool. Otherwise I just get too hot, even in the shade.

It tipped at 31 in the South today but my god it was so humid, it was suffocating. Husband has just come back from Las Vegas he said it was 41, but he said it feels worse in the UK due to the stifling humidity.

I'm in Oz - it's mid winter here and the maximum temp today will be 26. To me it's ideal weather but to most of my Brisbane friends its boots n' coats weather. Funny how it affects us all differently.

Yes, it is the humidity that makes it too hot. Dry heat is so different.

I think it's more about the infrastructure than the people. I functioned just fine in 40C Seville heat but the UK really isn't set up for hot weather at all. There's hardly any air con, nobody has it in their homes, and homes are built to keep heat in, not out. My flat was about 33C inside today. In Australia I'd have air con.

When I visited my brother in Australia, equivalent temperatures felt so much cooler. I would wear jeans and a sweater in the mid 20s there, whereas here I would stay indoors because it's far too hot. I'm assuming it's the humidity?

I have a large tree in my garden with seating underneath, which stays a lot cooler as it’s permanent shade. Also, a large paddling pool! One big enough to lie in. I was in the garden for 8 hours yesterday. I had my kindle, sat under the tree. When I got hot I went and laid in the pool! Which also has shade from the big tree. And I am someone who generally hates hot weather. But doing that kept me cool all day.

I don't like sitting in the sun unless it's pretty chilly out, and I don't like it on my face ever. On a beach holiday I'm always under an umbrella (or better yet sipping sangria at the bar)

I was indoors all day yesterday. I don’t enjoy 30 degrees and never will. Next week is looking like 18-22 degrees with sunny spells which is ideal for me.

No. Hello from Scottish Highlands. Balmy 17 degrees today and blowing a hoolie. Less balmy 12 degrees forecast for tomorrow(daytime temperatures to be clear)

Central lowlands and we are predicted a high of 16 today. I’d love it to be a bit warmer. Sunshine makes me feel so much better.

I saw a tip that you should hose down the ground under where you're sitting.

The weather's shit up here so can't confirm how good this is.

It's depends on location a bit. We are on the coast and seem to always have a breeze, which helps. If you are in an area without the breeze I'd imagine I'd be the same.

We have a large tree with a patio and garden sofa under it and we had a sun sail made and it is suspended under the lowest branches. There are various large shrubs to the right so that corner stays relatively cool. This is not my garden but it looks similar to this.
