To not want dirty packages left on my pillow

adriennewillfly · 17/06/2022 19:40

Had a very long day - drop off and pickup to school, haircuts for both the kids, cooked for everyone all while working from home. Partner is sick but able to look after DD2 while I try to get some work done. All in all a very trying day - this heat isn't helping, and I still have a few hours of work to catch up on.

The straw that broke the camels back - I snapped at having a dirty package put on my side of the bed. This package had been hidden outside on a neighbour's porch, where God knows what has been, and it's been dumped on my pillow. Of course, I'm the only one that can change the bed sheets because DP can't ever manage to do the bed sheet properly or the quilt.

OP posts:

I'd probably snap too. I'm very cranky today.

I'd get him to change the pillowcase.

I'd also be concerned as to why he's incapable of changing the entire bed. 🙄 Unless he has mobility problems or physical difficulties stopping him then it's a bit shit that he's incapable

I can empathise. Husband tends to put his shoes on the bed/table/kitchen counter. It drives me mad.

WTF??

Just why?

YANBU. Anything that would cause me to have to unexpectedly change bedding in this heat would give me the rage.
If I had to put a positive spin on it to snap myself out of it, I would look forward to very fast line drying weather tomorrow.

Depends where OP is. There's 97% chance of rain where my parents are in Shropshire!

Beseen22 · 17/06/2022 21:17

If that happened I would open the parcel and go to bed. It wouldn't have even been a discussion point.

User1406 · 17/06/2022 21:18

Just change the pillowcase. I understand this completely though. I don't even like putting parcels on the dining table either. I open them and get rid of the packaging straight away.

The heat is definitely making us all a little more irritable though. Grab yourself a cold drink and tomorrow is a new day.

heyitsthistle · 17/06/2022 21:18

Why on earth would you put it there? I'd most definitely scream.

onlythreenow · 17/06/2022 21:21

How on earth do some of you get through life!!! I would probably just have turned the pillow over, or at the most changed the pillowcase. On the things to make me scream this wouldn't even feature.

I really thought this was going to be something else. hahaha

Yes yanbu I would be pissed off.

I was thinking a surprise gift from lovehoney

5128gap · 17/06/2022 21:26

God knows what's been in your neighbours porch? Such as what, that could possibly harm you in any way?
If you stay in hotels you might want to take your own pillow case next time.

Yerroblemom1923 · 17/06/2022 21:31

I was thinking "dirty protest" or Ann Summers! What's the deal with parcels on pillows?! I usually just leave it in the porch or put it on kitchen chair.

ventreàterre · 17/06/2022 21:33

That's disgusting. The people minimising it have clearly never received a parcel that looks like it's been bouncing from one filthy, grimy surface to another on its way to your door. Call me a germaphobe if you like, but that would infuriate me. Maybe he can't make the bed, but he can do something else to make it up to you.

Regularsizedrudy · 17/06/2022 21:34

Husband can’t change a pillow case?

ventreàterre · 17/06/2022 21:37

Posted too soon...
Many times my hands have been visibly dirty after handling a filthy parcel. It doesn't take a genius to understand that something that looks dirty shouldn't go on soft furnishings. I'd take it as a personal insult or a sign that the adult who would put that on my pillow was lacking in basic intelligence. (A bit different if it had been a child.)

ZeroFuchsGiven · 17/06/2022 21:44

Like shite would this even come on my radar of anything to be pissed off about.

FinallyHere · 17/06/2022 21:49

DP can't ever manage to do the bed sheet properly or the quilt.

Assuming he has no mental or physical disabilities, then I'd suggest he needs to do it a lot so he can get the hang of it.

Mamamia7962 · 17/06/2022 21:50

I am really confused about this, why would your husband collect a parcel from next door's porch and then bring it in and go all the way upstairs into the bedroom and put it on your pillow?

VestaTilley · 17/06/2022 21:52

I thought this was going to be about a cat.

Who leaves parcels on a pillow?!

ClinicallyProven · 17/06/2022 21:59

Do you mean he can't change a bed or he can't do it the way you want it done?

FlibbertyGibbitt · 17/06/2022 22:02

IncompleteSenten · 17/06/2022 19:44

Me too.
Many years ago I had a cat who would leave me a dirty protest on my pillow if I went away.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

dylexihelp · 17/06/2022 22:04

"This package had been hidden outside on a neighbour's porch, where God knows what has been"

Can you expand? What is the 'god knows what' of which you speak? Genuinely what is your fear here? It's a neighbours porch not a cat litter tray.

Are you usually this highly strung?

DangerouslyBored · 17/06/2022 22:11

What is it with all the lame posts on MN tonight, there is another one running about a woman who has left her bin without a bin liner to ‘trick’ her son while she is on holiday Confused

For the love of god, someone post something juicy. Please 🙏🏼

Montgomerymmoose · 17/06/2022 22:16

My first thought was the dirty pillows scene from Carrie ...

maisieandvicks · 17/06/2022 22:19

I opened this thread thinking that someone had left poo on your pillow. You screamed because of a dirty package left on the pillow? Just change the pillow case?

maisieandvicks · 17/06/2022 22:21

Regularsizedrudy · 17/06/2022 21:34

Husband can’t change a pillow case?

SausageAndCash · 17/06/2022 22:31

Awwww, DH sent for a package from Love Honey and left it in your pillow as a surprise 😉❤️
