I have some clothes from my brother which he no longer needs for his son, so the uniforms I've kept for my youngest one. Everything is fine, the only thing is the colour of the trousers. I am thinking to dye them black as that's the colour my DS needs. Is it worth the hassle or should I just get new ones from asda? I like to reuse things when I can, and hate shopping for things unnecessarily. But here I don't know if I am wasting my time? I've never dye'd anything before but can follow youtube instructions/read quite easily.

Dylon will not take to synthetic fabrics so unless they are cotton it probably won’t work

they look cootton, will check the label. they are the usual school trousers.

I tried to dye my son's grey school shorts with black dylon (they were the usual school short/trousers material) and it turned them dark grey, rather than black. Total waste of money.

School trousers in Asda are so cheap it'll probably cost as much in dylon , and I doubt any school trousers are 100% cotton, so it won't take anyway

@FlamingoYellow thanks or sharing, aste of time and money. that could be an issue. maybe best to give the grey ones to charity

Even if the trousers are cotton, the sewing thread probably isn't so you'd end up with black trousers and grey stitching.
I wouldn't bother.
