To think the buck doesn't come back to me? Ebay issue...

I sold some shoes a couple of weeks ago. Posted them off immediately, no problem this end. I have received a message saying that although they were delivered to Argos, the buyer was on holiday and has only just gone to collect them. They have, apparently, been returned. Argos kept them for one week, whereas Royal Mail generally keep parcels for 3 weeks. My buyer states that they don't really want a refund but wants to know what happens in cases like this.
I think that I have upheld my part of the bargain - I posted them as agreed, that day or next working day. They arrived at the address given and were received. If they do arrive back here I'm more than happy to post out again but only at buyer's expense. I know Ebay always side with the buyer but I don't think I am liable to do anything else unless the shoes turn up back here and we'll take it from there. Aibu?

No I don't think you should have any responsibility. You kept your half of the bargain. A week seems a bit short to collect. Other places tend to give 10 days or so

Thanks! It would have been better to ask me to hang on to them for a week or so before posting m not sure why they didn't do this. I don't know anything about the click and collect system but I simply used the address given. I think it was up to the buyer to check timings.

They don't always side with the buyer, I sold some curtains once and got a message from the buyer after 5 weeks saying they hadn't recieved them. Checked tracking and they had just not picked them up from the PO, who had sent them back to the distribution centre. I wrote a clear note to ebay and they sided with me.

That’s useful to know, thank you. I have answered saying I think the buyer needs to take this up with Argos. If necessary I’ll contact EBay but I do think they need to chase it up themselves.

They don't always side with the buyer. I complained about not having received a parcel - it was supposedly delivered to my empty home when I was 17 miles away with dozens of witnesses. The courier claimed it was delivered without ANY evidence because their van's GPS showed them to have been on the street! EBay would not accept it wasn't delivered despite my evidence - I had to go to PayPal who did accept it.
