To give her medicine?

Meant to post much earlier this evening so posting here for traffic. Hope that's OK.

dd4 got home from nursery at about 6pm complaining of sore eyes. She was rubbing them a lot. I assumed hay fever. I gave her hay-fever medicine for kids. Over the next hour or so her eyes swelled up quite a lot. They were all puffy and she looks like she's been punched in both eyes. She was crying as it was so uncomfortable. I gave her a bath and put cool cucumber on her eyes. She stopped rubbing them so I assume the medicine started working but her eyes are so so puffy. I've just been in to check on her while she sleeps and all around her eyes is swollen. Is that a normal reaction to hay fever? I'm a bit worried Ive overlooked something?

Ring 111 and ask for advice, it could be allergy, infection.

ladydimitrescu · 16/06/2022 22:44

Agree that needs to be seen, could be an allergy.

Sounds like my DDs hayfever. Always affects her eyes. Piriton helps, the other ones not so much. We also had to get eye drops last summer. Pharmacist should be able to help you in the morning.

Posting an update in case anyone finds it useful. 111 referred her to see urgent eye care who said it was ocular hay fever, which is just hay fever that presents in the eyes rather than sinuses. She recommended eye drips but DD is too young so been told to just cont with the anti histamine.
