To ask how you juggle house chores and full time work

If it wasn't for lunch breaks on WFH days, my weekends would be eaten up by house chores and cleaning. DH helps loads but we have a young DD and there is always so much to do. We used to have a cleaner once a fortnight, however we had to cut expenses recently and tbh I don't see the point - DD is a tornado and I would feel like wasting money as I know she would make a mess straight after the house has been cleaned! I am lucky to WFH a couple of days a week and I fit a few chores during my lunch break. I don't know I would manage otherwise!

What @Lacedwithgrace said. Also, my DH doesn't "help" he does half, and he works for a megabank and does bonkers hours (he was on a conference call at 7am today) he's just not a shirker.

We have a cleaner once a month who deep cleans the apartment (inside the fridge, the skirting boards etc.) other than that, we just clean behind us and keep on top of it so it never gets filthy. I also don't have carpet, so it doesn't take long to vacuum and we just wipe down the sink and surfaces behind us as we go.

We don't let the laundry pile up - we try and do a wash every other day so it never gets out of hand. Also we chucked the iron and got a steamer for shirts etc. and find it way better - DH says he finds steaming really meditative.

Never leave washing up in the sink - it goes in the dishwasher or gets washed and put away immediately.

DS has loads of pretty rattan baskets in his room that we can just chuck toys in to get them out of the way and so it looks tidy in minutes.

Oh and I don't do arts and crafts at home, or anything that involves making a ton of mess indoors. I pay through the nose for nursery to take care of those things and if DS is going to do anything messy, I do it in the garden so it can be hosed away and he can be dunked in the paddling pool.

Thank you everyone for your input and tips.

I think the biggest problem is that we live in a fairly big house, with a fairly big garden. Gardening alone takes up a big chunk of time (plants, trees and bushes, not just lawn). I try to keep the wellies in the garden as much as possible but it happens that DD just runs into the conservatory from the garden and that's mucky tiles all over again.

I also love cooking and baking, that's one of my favourite activities to do with DD on a Sunday - but obviously mess-generating.

I might look for a cleaner who does occasional deep-cleans - maybe that would help a bit!

Oh and I cook from scratch but usually very quick and easy meals.

Any recommendations?
