What would you do with a child free week?

My mum has offered to have the DC for a week next year so that DH and I can go away and celebrate our 40ths.

So what would you do with a child free week?

AIBU to consider going abroad?

If your mum is reliable, healthy and sensible (no offence, you do hear stories on here!) then you can go out of the country.
I'd book something refundable because who knows what might happen next year.

What's your AIBU? There's a wonderful holiday board Smile

All those things. She isn't one to offer then let down.

I would say jump at the chance if your Mum has offered. We are parents but we also need to have me time sometimes Smile

Should add, kids will be 4&7 and live their gran, they've stayed with her for 2 nights before but never a week.

OMG. Much as I'd be tempted to do something vibrant and exciting, in reality, I'd book an absolutely top notch AI hotel somewhere gorgeous and not lift a finger all week. Not one item cooked, cleared up, washed up for a whole week. No schedule to answer to. Not a transport timetable nor entry ticket time to think about. An absolute switch off. Ideally with no wifi either. Bliss.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 16/06/2022 16:04

I'd want an all inclusive adult only hotel with reliable warmth (not unbearable heat), a nice pool or two, swim up bar, on the beach.

I also love cultural city breaks etc but quite honestly if child free for a week I'd want to do fuck all

soundofsilver · 16/06/2022 16:07

I wouldn't do a city break. I would book a nice hotel (no families), somewhere warm. Take loads of books and have long civilised lunches. Bliss.

TomAllenWife · 16/06/2022 16:12

We love an adults only hotel when away without the kids, certainly don't want to listen to other peoples

Carribean? Canaries? Dubai?

All doable for a week

bare · 16/06/2022 16:14

I would go trekking/desert camping in Morocco with a guide. A proper experience you will remember and harder to do with kids

Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin · 16/06/2022 16:15

My mum does this for me.once a year....we always go somewhere we wouldn't take dd.
Lake Garda is lovely depending on what time of year you go - bit of sightseeing and relaxation too.
But l would do an luxury all in somewhere.

zingally · 16/06/2022 16:51

I'd be going on holiday! Assuming your mum is sensible and in good health?

Miriam101 · 16/06/2022 16:53

I'd go to Venice, out of season. It's one of those places you prob wouldn't take kids until they're older... and it's so so gorgeous
