AIBU to be annoyed about people leaning on my car

I am really beginning to think that I am miserable 😅

my car/drive as now become the local hang out spot for people wanting to buy drugs off the neighbours, I heard a lot of noise outside the other night I had a look to find that they were all leaning against my car having a good old chat.

AIBU to be annoyed about people using my car to prop themselves up?

Seriously? Is that what they said? that's mental.

To be fair I was told it was a "clash of lifestyles" when I reported a former neighbour for domestic violence - apparently the couple were known to the police and were both as bad as each other, so I guess hitting each other was just how they liked to live and I was wrong for questioning their right to do so!

This isn't decades ago btw, it was 2019.

I think I'd be forwarding the evidence and the Police response to the local Police and Crime Commissioner and see what they have to say about it.

Mangogogogo · 16/06/2022 11:39

It’s not that they’re not dealing with it. They are most likely gathering intel, they won’t tell you that though.
why would they take a down a small time dealer when they can take down the full supply chain, the former would get society nowhere.

yanbu about them leaning on your car though. But tbh it’s not really much a crime and if you don’t wanna say anything or do anything about it like an alarm I’m unsure what you want anyone else to do?

CalistoNoSolo · 16/06/2022 11:41

Security lighting, motion activated sprinkler, very uncool music and a very sensitive car alarm. Make it uncomfortable for them so they move off, and keep on at the police.

frydae · 16/06/2022 11:44

What world do you live in when all cars are on fenced and gated driveways?

Nobody is saying all cars. OP car is on a drive though, so it would make sense for OP to take what is known as personal responsibility for ensuring her boundary. A fence and gate seems rather logical to me.

And I say yet again, read the original thread.

A good dollop of manure or chicken shit in your flower beds?
Start playing hymns or classical music at full blast with your front window open? I'd be as annoying as hell. As passively/ aggressively as possible

Arnaquer · 16/06/2022 13:06

Joking aside the response from your local police is appalling. I'd second getting in touch with your local councillors/ MP or the Police and crime commissioner for your area

Yet more financial costs to us as no one will deal with these people

Have you double checked that there isn’t away to set your car alarm off from a distance with the remote? Aware not all cars can do this but worth a look (my 90’s Honda had this feature so not a ‘new’ thing)

calmlakes · 16/06/2022 13:16

I have a panic button on my key fob which would set off the alarm system.
Does your car have any similar?

balalake · 16/06/2022 13:22

Complain to the Police and Crime Commissioner. If the neighbours drive a car, then report them to the Police the second they get in the car with the reg number.

Somanysocks · 16/06/2022 13:28

Are they fairly young? Get one of those mosquito noise thingies.

Repeat them to the police for what?

Report Blush

I was going to suggest this but they're about £600

Police didn't do anything when our house was regularly being pelted with stones and eggs. But once we bought a private cctv in desperation they were happy to come round asking to see footage to clear up other crimes. Never did catch the stones mob.

I had a similar experience. Police totally useless, put in CCTV, and suddenly every vague crime on the street they were around asking if they could check my CCTV. Funnily enough, the neighbours who wanted the police to check my CCTV were the ones whose kids were causing the trouble in the area, so they and the police were told to go fund their own CCTV. I no longer live there - and apparently the landlord who bought my house has has a succession of scummy tenants who have caused untold trouble to my former delightful neighbours. What goes around, comes around.
