I struggle with social anxiety which lockdown didn't help, the past year has been tough but I feel like I am slowly making progress with it.
I haven't been out socialising since lockdown and on Saturday night my work colleagues are going for a meal out. I said I would go even though I feel anxious about it but felt that it would do me good to push myself a bit.
Today I overheard one of my colleagues saying to another colleague when she saw i had put my name down I bet she won't come and started laughing.
Would you be upset by this comment or am I just been oversensitive?

Well tbh if I had social anxiety, and presumably a tendency to back out of things, I’d probably say “fair enough “.

Yeah you know exactly how you'd react if you had an issue that affected the way you interact with everyone around you but have had absolutely zero experience of said issue 🙄

YANBU OP, well done for putting your name down even. I hope you do manage to go. The people laughing at you don't realise they're making it even harder for you to face your personal challenge. I'm sorry you had to hear them. Try not to focus on that pair and instead focus on why you wanted to go and the bits of it you'll enjoy.

Was she gonna lose out or be out of pocket?I would have piped up and embarrass her on the spot. Makes me wanna punch the fg wall when women bang on about supporting one another. What a load of shit!
