Anyone still not bothered to go back to the office?

What industry are you in if you're still at home and not being pressured to get back to the office?

Publishing. But over lockdown, they made us homeworkers to save money, so there's no office to go back to.

KyaClark · 15/06/2022 13:56

I'm on maternity leave but I don't have to go back to the office when I go back. Some people have chosen to go back once or twice a week but it's not mandatory and it's self managed.

I work for a large construction company.

Journalism

Practically the same.

I've no branch office anymore

Ditto! My boss closed our office & has relocated to Scotland from SW.

TedMullins · 15/06/2022 13:59

Journalism, I go in once or twice a week. I’m changing jobs into a non-journalistic content role and it’s mainly remote, I think I’ll have to go in once or twice a month. I wouldn’t take a job that required me to be in an office 5 days a week now. I already WFH one day a week before the pandemic.

APurpleSquirrel · 15/06/2022 13:59

Should say our HO have moved to hybrid, so most of my colleagues go into the office a few days a week; but I'm based remotely so don't have to go in, & now our regional office is gone I'm permanently wfh.

ItWasntMyFault · 15/06/2022 14:01

Housing Association - I go into the office about once a month

TheFlis12345 · 15/06/2022 14:02

DH and I both work in marketing / advertising. Both our offices closed during lockdown. I now go to a shared space twice a week, home the rest. He is home only.

HotChoc10 · 15/06/2022 14:02

I'm in the office once a week - working in higher education (admin, not teaching).

Crunchymum · 15/06/2022 14:03

Software.

Haven't been to the office since March 2020, and as of 1st August there will be no office to go to.

Quornflakegirl · 15/06/2022 14:04

I work in education planning and worked from home pre covid.

PollyDarton1 · 15/06/2022 14:10

Software, I was hired remotely and will continue to work remotely even though the office is now open.

TulipsGarden · 15/06/2022 14:10

Publishing. Still mainly at home, though the office is open (but very quiet and I'm expecting them to sell off half of it). Have to go in once a month.

Partner is still at home, works for a brand agency.

crabbitmaw · 15/06/2022 14:12

I.T Industry. Office downsized massively and new space can only "house" around 5 people at any time, of which I'm not one. There is communal work spaces in the lobby if I so desired...but I don't. I envisage being WFH for as long as Im with the company.

FlamingoYellow · 15/06/2022 14:13

NHS. They turned our office into a clinical area during lockdown so there's nowhere for us to go.

gwenneh · 15/06/2022 14:15

Marketing. Most of the roles I see advertised in my field are also WFH entirely. I've had one recent headhunting call where the client was insistent on working from the office, but that's the exception now.

DH is a software dev & also continues to WFH; the company ended the leases on office space so they don't have a physical office either.

Headshothelp · 15/06/2022 14:15

Engineering. But it's very local team specific. Some people are in full time, most are in 2/3days a week and others like me are in a "work wherever is best for you" scenario.

gwenneh · 15/06/2022 14:16

Also -- I went into the office last week to do one thing, and caught covid. Hooray.

Marscapone · 15/06/2022 14:18

solicitor. In office one morning a week max. Even our court hearings are online.

I miss my colleagues.

riesenrad · 15/06/2022 14:22

Law firm - most people are in 1-2 days a week. I was mainly home-based anyway, even before covid, so I go in 1-2 days a month.

imperialminty · 15/06/2022 14:23

Design agency here - almost all of our clients (spread across government, financial services, massive tech companies etc.) are still mostly WFH too. We can work from our office whenever we want but no pressure. Most people seem to go in a couple of times a month, although the working Mum's interestingly are in for most of their working days! It's lovely. Most of my friends in similar agency-type set ups are the same.

My fiance works for a consultancy and they owned their office, which they've now sold, so he doesn't even have an office to go to if he wanted to! We only really know 1 or 2 people who are back working out of the house full time - one is a teacher, and one is a doctor.

Grissini50 · 15/06/2022 14:23

Work in HE and I go in about once a month. Was WFH 2 days a week pre-pandemic.

Hollyhocksarenotmessy · 15/06/2022 14:24

Public sector hr, fully wfh with maybe 3 days in an office this year when essential. The majority of our employees are now wfh, some are hybrid.

Eileen101 · 15/06/2022 14:24

Yes, solicitor. Our team area has been downsized and we are required to hotdesk.

On one hand I do miss the previous environment, camaraderie etc. On the other hand, removing the commute, I have no commuting costs (which really helps with the finances), my children can have shorter hours at nursery, more quality time, I save commuting time (min 1 HR each way depending on rail delays) and I work in jeans and t shirt Grin
i have to keep reminding myself that even if I was going in to the office, it wouldn't be the same due to staff turnover etc.

Hugasauras · 15/06/2022 14:25

Publishing here too.
