Bridesmaid Dresses

OK more of am I being silly -

I have 6 bridesmaids for our wedding next year. Its a good 18 months away yet.

I have seen the perfect dresses massively reduced and I am tempted to buy them. If I bought 6 + 2 spares of alternative sizes for weight loss/gain it would still be under half the original budget!

They are currently size 16, 14, 14, 14, 12, 8 - they have all said they want to lose weight apart from the size 8 bridesmaid.

would I be crazy to take a chance and buy 8 dresses in sizes 14 x 3 12 x 3 10 x 1 and 8 x 1

The total for all 8 dresses would be just over £200 so not a massive amount to lose if they all drastically change shape in the next year. Plus dresses can be taken in/let out fairly easily?

YABU - wait and see closer to the time and buy the dresses at twice the cost.

YANBU - take a risk but be prepared to throw £200 down the drain.

I'd buy at the right size for now. It will be much easier to have them taken in than let out surely?

Buy them plus 2.x size 16 spairs.

Ok so I have gone for it! Bought at current size and a spare 16 and a spare 14.

The dresses are forgiving anyway and if it doesn't work out it's only £200 wasted. Less if I manage to sell them on ebay so worth the risk.

I’d buy them all a size bigger.

You can get them taken in if they lose weight or remain the same, but you can’t get them key out if they gain.

This way they’ll almost certainly all fit in 18 months!

Oh I am too late! Ignore last comment!

Congratulations and Sounds like you made a good choice 😊👍

A lot can happen in 18 months, not just weight gain or loss.

There is a very high chance the £200 (amazingly cheap for 8 dresses!) will be down the drain.

It is so cheap! That's why I couldn't pass up the opportunity.

If they don't fit they don't fit we will start again. But with a bit of luck they will fit and I have bagged a massive bargain!

Will they still be what you want in 18 months time though?! I was still changing my colour scheme 6 months before my wedding 😂

TunaSalad · 14/06/2022 18:03

Tough luck if not Grin they are bought now!
