To wish I never tested for covid

I’ve got some mild symptoms- bit of a sore & tickly throat, bit of a cough and a slightly snotty nose. A cold basically.

I had actually run out of tests but found 2 tests and decided to do a test and sure enough, I am bloody positive.

And now I am gripped with anxiety whereas I probably would have just had a lemsip and has an early night & shrugged off a cold.

I had really bad covid right at the start of the pandemic & am double jabbed so probably so have antibodies. I’m now just really worried that I’ll get really ill again when actually, it just feels like a mild cold at the moment.

FFS 🤦‍♀️

Stick with your reassurance - it's not like the start of the pandemic, you have been jabbed! But rest up. Treat it like flu - rest, drink fluids, don't leap back into normal life until you feel ready.

Yep, there’s few good reasons not to test. This is one of them; anxiety making you feel worse.

lemsip, sofa, stay at home as much as possible and you’ll be right as rain very soon!

The point of testing is to ensure you dont give it to anyone else so please don't just " stay home as much as possible",like a previous poster has said. Stay in until you are negative. Covid hasn't magically gone away nor is it less lethal than it was despite what this horrific Government has said ( I presume its England you're in as other countries aren't necessarily being lenient with testing).

Op COVID is here to stay so you know for next time.
I like to know what's going on with me though. I feel more anxious if I don't know.
I've tested positive on Friday and it's been a b weird experience that might have worried me had I not known it was covid.

Hey, i sympathise, i'm triple jabbed, was at bf's wednesday, his mum had a cold, was around her maybe 5 minutes. Next evening, throat a little tickly, day after, cold symptoms. Day 3 my knee joints felt achey so i tested, yup, it's corona. Since then its ear and nose congestion, sinus/head fullness/pressure, bad cough, eyes achey/blurry even with my glasses, dry cracked lips from all the mouth breathing, tongue sores and one sided nosebleeds. I cannot sleep, blocked nose is my biggest hate when ill. I have to be in a fully upright position at all times.
It's my first time having covid, i'm sat listening and feeling the constant pulsing of my heartbeat in my ear and neck, i dread how bad i'd be if i wasn't vaxxed as soon as i was eligible.

I'm a care worker and need to take a test twice weekly for work. Back in early January, I tested positive - not a single symptom. I couldn't work for 9 days until I returned two negative tests.
I would never in a million years want to put any of my clients at risk, and it's right that I should take regular tests.
But, I lost 9 days' worth of pay, and I still haven't caught up to this day.
Nobody else I know is still required to test regularly, and therefore they're not at risk of losing pay.
It feels a bit unfair, not least because I caught it at work.

Silverswirl · 14/06/2022 00:44

We are all going to get it a couple of times a year most likely if not more. I’ve had it twice this year and once last year -
doubt it will be the last.
No way can we all be testing and isolating going forward. Country wouldn’t function long term with so many people out for what is a mild cold for the vast majority. (Yeah yeah waiting for the ‘tell that to my uncle billy who was on life support’ brigade to come along)
Next time, and there will be a next time, don’t test and you won’t feel as anxious.

Everythingnotsavedwillbelost22 · 14/06/2022 06:16

Tested again this morning, definitely positive but still extremely mild, probably more mild than yesterday actually - bonkers!

I visited someone in hospital last week for work. I was with them for about 20 mins then the next day they tested positive. So now I'm testing daily because I don't want to pass it on to other vulnerable clients. I also cancelled a family meet up last weekend just to be on the safe side. I currently have awful hay-fever too which is masking any possible symptoms. I don't mind though, work pay for the tests and I have a good sick leave policy. I'm glad the expectations around covid are now based on using your own common sense and depending on circumstances.

@doyouwantachuffedybadge pretty sure its not just england

goldfinchonthelawn · 15/06/2022 08:43

Think of it this way: you are far better off knowing. You reacted badly to it last time, So this time take it seriously and rest. Go to bed or lie on a sunbed in a quiet part of the garden. Do nothing at all.

If you thought it was just a cold you might have pushed yourself through it and could end up with long Covid. You want to avoid that.

passport123 · 15/06/2022 09:13

Why only double jabbed and not boosted?
