Son has bank account with NatWest - teenage one called adapt. He has a debit card that he can use, has an online account and an app to manage it, i bank with the same bank and was his parent on the application.
He can't transfer money to me! How nuts is that! The account won't let him make payments via online banking. The bank says it's not
Possible with the teenage account...
Aibu? I just don't understand it....

DD has had her own account with Halifax since 11yrs old. Same usability as a normal account but no overdraft. I'm really happy with it. She pays me back via bank transfer all the time.

Snap. I have the same with the NatWest kids accounts. They now have starling accounts. We’ve not had any issues (yet!)

It’s obviously for security as teenagers may not be as well versed as adults on scams and how to prevent authorised payment fraud.

also teenagers aged 14-18 are at highest risk of finding themselves being persuaded into acting as money mules for criminals in return for some easy cash. It’s an extremely serious situation for them to find themselves in

so I understand why this service is turned off until they are a bit older
