To be chuffed I ran 2 miles

I ran 2 miles today without stopping and I enjoyed it!!
It's not much obviously, but I've never enjoyed running. I'm short and bottom heavy, so it doesn't come naturally for me. Last summer I ran a lot to loose weight, and always struggled with it. Now I've stopped trying to loose weight (don't even weigh myself) and found myself enjoying it! Woohoo!!

@NotKevinTurvey i don't have one. I have a tendency to get obsessive about weight-related issues and numbers (had an eating disorder as a teenager) so I'm genuinely only running for the fun of it. Not even weighing myself.
@PurpleDaisies i think for me it's been the sprinting uphill that's done it. I've built stamina. Also just going whenever I can, and not caring if I run or walk. Basically just doing it for fun rather than a goal ☺️

.. Oh and buying proper gear. I got a nice pair of running leggings and a really good pair of running shoes. When dh gets home from work (I wfh) I just put my running gear on and tell him I'm going for a little walk, which turns into an run. I also don't run on tarmac. And don't care if I walk more than I run.

It sounds like you are doing it all right.

If you want to have a fun target to aim for, Park Runs are very low-key fun 5k runs on a Saturday morning. There are loads of them, all over the country, and it’s a nice event for people who just run for enjoyment.

New kit is such a good motivator! I’m currently saving for bone conducting headphones.

Sounds like you’re in a great routine. So glad it’s working for you.

@PurpleDaisies bone conducting headphones?! I'm such a dinosaur 😅 What are they?

Aftershokz is the main brand. Because they don’t go in your ear, you can hear your surroundings. They’re safer for running in traffic. Lots of events seem to only allow them. The one I ran in on the weekend had a ban on other types of headphones because part of the route was still open although I didn’t see traffic anywhere. I’d have liked some loud music to get me up a hill!
