My skin is sensitive so it's usually a bit red afterwards but not like this. I look like I've got burns.

I do use Adapalene 0.1 but I wasn't aware of the link.

It’s a skin lift. Your skin has been taken off with the wax. Not necessarily to do with the heat of the wax. If you use retinol you should let her know before waxing.

Go for threading in future.

Yeah, lesson learned.

Ah, I bet it's the retinoid. I've made the mistake once to forget to stop using at least 48 hours before my eyebrows being done, and ouch.

Next time just make sure to cease using the couple of days before the appointment - waxing and retinol don't mix. Everyone is different, I have to stop 3 days before the wax as while I have very sensitive skin, as I've been using retinoids for a long time my skin can handle this time (2 years ago it was 7 days as I was new to this type of skin care).

I also get those. You probably have sensitive skin, like I do. This is why I pluck my eyebrows instead of waxing.

Those red marks are on your eyelids, not your eyebrows-surely that's the issue?
